SAP Basis Expert — Paris

Paris West (Hauts-de-Seine), France · Permanent · Hybrid

Move mid-sized companies' SAP systems to S/4HANA and the cloud, where a bad cutover weekend means the client can't invoice on Monday.

What you'd actually work on

  • Leading the technical side of S/4HANA transformation projects for mid-sized clients, from architecture redesign and system conversions to migrations toward private, public or hybrid cloud
  • Running the full lifecycle of client SAP systems: new installations, upgrades, support packages and kernel updates, system copies and environment refreshes
  • Planning and driving cutover and go-live plans, including downtime windows, rehearsals and fallback scenarios agreed with the client
  • Administering and tuning the databases behind those systems, across Oracle, MSSQL, SAP HANA, SAP ASE and SAP MaxDB
  • Deploying and configuring SAP BTP and integration platforms so that on-premise systems and cloud services work together cleanly
  • Acting as level 3 support across many client landscapes, taking the incidents that first and second level teams could not solve
  • Handling several client projects at the same time, while working closely with functional consultants and the infrastructure team

Where it gets technically interesting

  • Five database engines across the client base (Oracle, MSSQL, SAP HANA, SAP ASE, SAP MaxDB), each with its own backup, performance and upgrade logic, so you need to switch between them, sometimes in the same week
  • System conversions to S/4HANA that often combine an upgrade and a database migration to HANA in one run (SUM with DMO), where the real challenge is keeping downtime short for clients who cannot stop their business for long
  • Cloud migrations of business-critical ERP systems, where sizing, high availability and disaster recovery decisions matter more than the move itself
  • SAP BTP and integration work, connecting on-premise landscapes to cloud services while keeping security, identities and connectivity under control
  • A company that also runs infrastructure engineering (virtualization, networks) and managed services, so you see the full stack from the VM layer up to the application, and the systems you deliver stay close to you after go-live
  • Level 3 escalations across many different landscapes: kernel issues, transport problems, performance drops, often on production systems with a client waiting for an answer

What we're looking for

  • At least 8 years of experience in SAP Basis (BC) administration or technical consulting, ideally including time at an integrator or managed services provider
  • Hands-on S/4HANA experience, including installations, upgrades and at least one system conversion or migration project
  • Strong database administration skills on several engines among Oracle, MSSQL, SAP HANA, SAP ASE and SAP MaxDB
  • A proven track record with deployments, data migrations, platform conversions and system performance improvements
  • The ability to run several significant projects in parallel and still meet each client's operational requirements
  • Autonomy in your technical decisions, a real team spirit, and a Master's level degree or equivalent experience
  • Bonus: experience with SAP BTP, a public cloud provider (Azure, AWS or GCP), SAP certifications, or SAP Solution Manager and Cloud ALM

The company

A specialist SAP and infrastructure services firm with more than 15 years in the market, part of a larger group, helping mid-sized companies run, secure and modernize their business-critical ERP environments. Around 30 to 40 people, certified by leading software vendors, working across three areas: infrastructure engineering (virtualization, networks, cloud migrations), SAP technical consulting and integration, and managed services for the platforms they deliver. This is a newly created position in the SAP practice, reporting to the technical leadership and working day to day with a team of SAP experts, functional consultants and infrastructure engineers. There is a real path toward team management for someone who handles complex, cross-team projects well, with mobility across the group.
