Director of Public Affairs & Communications

Location: Paris

Ready to take ownership, lead client strategy and help shape an agency’s future?

Kairos is a small, ambitious public affairs agency looking for a Director to work closely with the CEO, advise senior clients and help grow the business.

While other agencies grow through acquisitions, Kairos puts its energy into a tailored approach—bringing each client the right people, sharp political insight and the speed to act when it matters.

Here, you’ll be more than a number on an Excel sheet. You’ll have a voice, influence decisions and see your ideas put into action. You won’t simply monitor politics and summarise what you read: you’ll turn intelligence into strategy, relationships and results.

The role

  • Lead client strategy and relationships: act as a trusted senior adviser, designing and delivering public affairs, lobbying and corporate communications programmes.
  • Bring an established political network: maintain and develop trusted relationships across the political spectrum, including the left, centre and right, with politicians, advisers, parliamentary teams, public officials and industry leaders.
  • Stay close to the political conversation: pick up the phone, meet people and connect different perspectives to understand developments and identify opportunities for clients.
  • Work directly with the CEO: contribute ideas, challenge assumptions and help shape the agency’s positioning, priorities and growth.
  • Win new business: generate leads, open doors and lead pitches and proposals that turn relationships into lasting client partnerships.
  • Ensure excellent delivery: oversee precise political and regulatory monitoring, policy analysis, briefings and advocacy campaigns, with clear recommendations and timely action.
  • Provide leadership: guide colleagues, uphold quality and oversee project budgets and delivery, while remaining hands‑on in a fast‑paced agency.

Our work spans sectors including agriculture, energy, finance and the environment, combining public affairs with corporate communications, reputation and issues management.

What you bring

  • Significant experience in public affairs, lobbying or political advisory work, including agency experience and direct exposure to the French political sphere.
  • An active, established network across political parties and institutions, with the credibility and judgement to build relationships beyond your existing circle.
  • Strong strategic thinking and an understanding of how political, legislative and economic developments affect clients.
  • Confidence advising senior stakeholders, leading client conversations and translating complex issues into clear, persuasive written advice.
  • Commercial instinct, initiative and the energy to generate ideas, create opportunities and help build a business.
  • An autonomous, collaborative approach: comfortable speaking openly, debating constructively and having your thinking challenged.
  • Personality, curiosity and a sense of humour—we take our work seriously and want to enjoy building the agency together.

Team management experience is a bonus, rather than a requirement. We welcome strong political and client leaders ready to develop that dimension of their career. Knowledge of agriculture is particularly valuable; familiarity with Brussels and EU institutions is also an advantage.
