# HDS-HCP-SAN Backup Infrastructure Expert – Senior
* HDS-HCP-SAN Backup Infrastructure Expert – SeniorCONTEXT The Infrastructure Management department – Server, Storage and Backup Infrastructures – is primarily responsible for defining, implementing and developing Server, Storage and Backup infrastructures, administering them, ensuring their operational maintenance and providing Level 3 support. We are looking for a candidate capable of administering our HDS 5600/HCP and PureStorage storage infrastructures, as well as the Brocade SAN, on a daily basis.
Technical Environment – Technological : The infrastructure is hosted in a data center comprised of two separate, fully independent mirrored rooms (Room A and Room B) and a remote disaster recovery site (Room C). Server Infrastructure : The server infrastructure is virtualized on an ESX platform and on Pseries and Zseries chassis (the latter two being outside the scope of this project). The VMware virtualization environment consists of approximately 190 ESXi nodes running vSphere 7 and 8, distributed across 10 HA/DRS clusters. The servers are mostly Lenovo SR650 and SR850 models. This server infrastructure hosts approximately 13,000 VMs using the following operating systems:
• 11,000 Linux, primarily Red Hat 7 and 8,
• 2,000, primarily Windows Server 2019. An IaaS platform, solely for the x86 environment, developed in-house based on Ansible, automates infrastructure-related tasks: creating/deleting virtual machines, adding disks, memory, or CPUs, etc. A Prometheus/Grafana-based solution collects and delivers platform monitoring metrics. Storage Infrastructure: Data is stored on Hitachi and Pure Storage arrays. – The Hitachi G1500 and 5600 arrays have a total capacity of approximately 8 PB. They are distributed across three rooms in campus mode ("AB") and remote site mode ("C"). All volumes from the primary arrays in room A are replicated synchronously (RPO equal to 0) to the secondary array in room B; All production volumes from the primary site's arrays, and only those volumes, are asynchronously replicated to arrays at a disaster recovery site. These arrays host data for AIX, Mainframe, and VMware systems. The Pure Storage arrays are dedicated to VMware environments only. Production: 3 arrays of approximately 1 PB distributed across 3 sites A, B, and C. Arrays A and B are in active clustering (Active-Active), while the third array at the disaster recovery site is the target of asynchronous replication. Non-Production: 2 arrays of 1.7 PB distributed across rooms A and B in active clustering only. " – 3 Hitachi HCP arrays responsible for S3 storage presentation (Archiving, Backups). SAN Infrastructure: 2 "Block" SAN networks coexist:
- Brocade DCX-4S SAN (2 in room A + 2 in room B) in Dual Fabric mode." (Old) '
- Brocade X6-4 SAN (2 in room A + 2 in room B) in Dual Fabric mode. (New) ' A replication SAN based on 4 Brocade 7800 FCIP routers. These switches provide the inter-site communication on which the asynchronous replication of the Hitachi (G1500 – 5600) storage arrays relies. Backup Infrastructure 'The backup infrastructure is based on CommVault HDPS software. Backed-up data is stored and replicated on Hitachi HCP arrays.
