Host Research Unit

The BoRdeaux Institute of onCology (BRIC) is a research unit located at the University of Bordeaux. Jointly accredited by Inserm and the University of Bordeaux, BRIC brings together the existing cancer research expertise in Bordeaux, with approximately 260 people working in 11 research teams and four shared services. The successful candidate will join Team 7.

We are seeking a candidate with strong knowledge of cell biology and bioinformatics for a fixed term (CDD) Research Engineer (Ingénieur d’études) position within the team.

Main Mission

Mammary organoid culture and bioinformatic analysis of spatial transcriptomics data.

Main Activities

The successful candidate will carry out the following activities:

  • 3D culture of mammary organoids in Clevers medium
  • Cell aggregation in AggreWells
  • Seeding of organoids in hydrogel domes in 96-well plates
  • Organoid culture using Incucyte/CellCyte
  • Bioinformatic analysis of Incucyte/CellCyte data and spatial transcriptomics data

Candidates must have knowledge of:

  • Molecular and cellular biology
  • Breast cancer biology
  • Bioinformatics

Requirements

Research Field Biological sciences » Biology Education Level Master Degree or equivalent

Skills/Qualifications

Candidates must have skills in:

  • 3D organoid culture in Clevers medium
  • Aggregation of primary cells in AggreWells
  • Lentiviral infection of primary cells
  • Seeding of organoids in 96-well plates
  • R and Python programming from YAML in VS Code
  • Statistical analyses using mixed models

Personal Skills

The candidate should demonstrate:

Specific Requirements

Experience in the following is desired:

  • 3D culture of mammary organoids
  • Culture using Incucyte/CellCyte or a similar system
  • Flow cytometry
  • Molecular cloning, qPCR and Western blotting
  • Spatial transcriptomics analysis, preferably Visium or Xenium
  • R/Bioconductor and Python for bulk, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, including Seurat, scanpy, anndata, squidpy and proseg
  • Image analysis using ImageJ, QuPath and Python

Annual leave and RTT are provided according to Inserm rules.
