Job Summary
You ensure that AI-based systems developed at NXP are safe, certifiable, and deployable by driving system safety architecture. You lead innovation projects for Safe AI, aligned with the centrally owned Safety & AI roadmap. You also coordinate between different time horizons and ensure that projects transition between them successfully. Additionally you manage the “Safety & AI” innovation team, and ensure people deliver to their full potential while creating a career path for them.
Responsibilities
- Own execution of AI safety across projects by translating the Safety & AI roadmap into innovation projects.
- Together with other experts, define system safety concepts for AI-driven features, convert AI behavior into safety requirements and mechanisms, and ensure fail-safe or fail-operational behavior.
- Coordinate innovation projects with NPI and applications.
- Collaborate with the enablement team to update NXP development processes to include standards such as ISO 8800.
- Apply model validation, robustness checks, fault injection, and runtime safety mechanisms, and provide feedback on gaps.
- Provide structured feedback to the Safety & AI roadmap owner and contribute inputs based on project execution.
- Accountable for the success of the “Safety & AI” innovation team.
Experience
- An intimate knowledge of ISO-26262 is mandatory, IEC 61508 is nice to have.
- A good understanding of the Safety and AI landscape is mandatory.
- 10+ years architecting, designing, and validating safety embedded systems; Automotive environments mandatory, others are nice to have.
- Solid understanding of AI/ML in embedded systems.
- Proven delivery across complex projects.
- Ability to bridge architecture, safety, and execution teams.
- A first experience as manager is nice to have.
- Desirable: Technical leadership.
Education
- PhD or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Embedded Systems, with at least 10 years of industry experience.
