To pursue our ambitious vision, we are looking for a Senior Power Test Engineer. In this role, you will build the test infrastructure — hardware, software, and methods — that qualifies our batteries and power electronics for flight.
Responsibilities
- Design and build the test benches for battery cells, packs, BMS subsystems and power converters: fixtures, instrumentation, power and safety infrastructure.
- Automate the test benches: test sequencing, instrument control, data acquisition, and data processing pipelines.
- Implement mission‑representative test scenarios on the benches: orbital charge/discharge profiles, eclipse cycling, and thermal environments, based on use cases provided by the design team — no prior space background needed.
- Define and run qualification campaigns to get our hardware ready for flight: environmental testing (thermal, thermal‑vacuum, vibration) and functional verification toward flight acceptance.
- Operate and develop the in‑house cell testing laboratory: cyclers, thermal chambers, safety infrastructure, lab processes, and interaction with equipment suppliers.
Qualifications
- Professional engineering education (MSc or equivalent) in electrical engineering / electronics, with 5+ years of hands‑on test engineering experience.
- Experience testing batteries or power electronics: cyclers, electronic loads, power supplies, power analyzers, thermal chambers.
- Test automation and scripting skills (Python or similar): instrument control, data acquisition, data analysis.
- Solid electronics fundamentals: measurement techniques, sensing, wiring, grounding, and safe practices around high currents and voltages.
- Autonomy in the lab: oscilloscopes, differential/isolated probes, power analyzers, electronic loads.
- Strong analytical skills, proactive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills and unbounded curiosity.
- You enjoy owning your scope end‑to‑end.
- Professional level English — further languages welcome.
Nice to Have
- Experience in space, aerospace, automotive, high‑volume consumer electronics, or other constrained industries.
- Understanding of Li‑ion cell behavior: aging mechanisms, safety, and characterization methods (ACIR/DCIR, EIS, RPT‑based protocols).
- Experience with environmental testing: thermal‑vacuum, vibration, shock.
- Experience with power electronics testing.
- Experience with databases and data pipelines.
- Familiarity with LabVIEW/TestStand or equivalent test frameworks.
Benefits
- Your work will fly: contribute directly to the future of space exploration and Sustainable Space.
- Access to cutting‑edge facilities and development opportunities in the heart of the European space industry.
- A steep personal development path, working alongside world‑class aerospace engineers.
- Equity package and competitive compensation.
- A highly talented, dynamic, and international team.
