Its platform serves geneticists, pathologists, oncologists, bioinformaticians, and pharma researchers, with a mission to democratize data-driven medicine for the benefit of cancer and rare disease patients worldwide.### The roleThe Senior Platform Designer sits within the Platform Design & Innovation (PDI) team, which is responsible for how DDM evolves as a platform: cross-cutting design patterns, the design system, high-value product initiatives, and the translation of complex clinical requirements into coherent product experiences across all application teams. PDI's mandate is transversal — you do not sit within one team's scope but influence platform-level decisions across all of them. This is a senior individual contributor role with a stated path toward team leadership. The role is based in Rolle, Switzerland or Bidart, France on a hybrid schedule (2 days per week from home).### What you would do
* Conduct research with expert users across the platform's range: genomics specialists (geneticists, pathologists, bioinformaticians), oncologists using Carepath for treatment decision support, and pharma researchers accessing real-world data through DataHub.
* Design for appropriate complexity rather than consumer simplicity, matching the cognitive model of expert users who read variant tables and imaging reports under clinical pressure.
* Balance clinical workflow fidelity with IVD regulatory constraints, including traceability, audit trail, accessibility, and interaction patterns that survive regulatory review.
* Lead the design of major DDM platform workflows across the full product surface: variant triage and interpretation, oncology decision-support in Carepath, multimodal data views combining genomic and imaging signals, and DataHub experiences for clinical and pharma research users.
* Define and evolve cross-surface interaction patterns that give the platform coherence: how data from different modalities is presented together, how classification decisions are recorded and traced, and how users with different expertise levels navigate the same underlying data.
* Govern and evolve the DDM design system in collaboration with engineering, covering component usage, token standards, interaction primitives, and documentation.
* Build interactive prototypes using whatever tooling compresses the cycle (AI-assisted code, low-code scaffolding, or hand-crafted HTML) to get something real in front of users quickly.
* Run validation sessions with clinical users, oncologists, and pharma partners early and continuously, treating user research as a design input rather than a sign-off step.
* Work alongside platform engineering as a peer, translating between design language (workflows, mental models, jobs-to-be-done) and engineering language (APIs, data models, performance, security).
* Collaborate with Product Owners and Product Managers across application teams (HemOnc, Solid Tumor & LBx, RID, Carepath, DataHub), shaping shared vision without direct authority.
* Mentor junior designers, shape team process, and build readiness for a design leadership function.### What they are looking for
* A track record as a senior product or platform designer (or product manager) in regulated environments such as HealthTech, MedTech, or scientific SaaS, where users are domain experts and workflows are genuinely complex.
* A portfolio of shipped work showing product judgment: hard tradeoffs, designs evolved through validation, and clear evidence that your involvement changed what got built, across multiple distinct user groups.
* Experience designing information-dense, data-heavy interfaces: tables, filters, multi-step clinical or scientific workflows, and multimodal data views.
* Comfort working close to code and close to product: able to author requirements and acceptance criteria, hold meaningful conversations with engineers about implementation constraints, and build prototypes beyond static mockups.
* Hands-on technical experience in development or engineering and product development earlier in your career.
* Genuine curiosity about clinical genomics, imaging, and real-world data; finding the complexity interesting rather than intimidating.
* Grounded understanding of AI/ML in a clinical context, with experience extending AI/ML features within a regulated product.
* Strong communication and influencing skills across diverse audiences: g
