Rockets have not gotten wider. Satellites need far more power than they used to. The only way through is structures that pack into a fairing and unfold into something massive on orbit.
Gama is building that: ultra-light deployable solar arrays, from 3 kW to over 100 kW, in a factory sized for 100 MW a year by 2028. Inventing the hardware is one half of the problem. The other half is getting it designed, built, tested and delivered on dates that customers need.
We are hiring a Technical Project Manager to own that second half. You will report to and work directly alongside the VP of Engineering, and you will be the single point of accountability for the execution of the Gama Wing, our deployable solar array program. When a program is on track, you are the reason. When it is behind, you are the person who knows why and what we are doing about it. Gama operates with extreme ownership: you own the outcome, not just the plan.
Your mission will be to:
- Own end-to-end execution of the Gama Wing: scope, schedule, budget, risk and cross-functional integration across design, manufacturing, supply chain, test and delivery.
- Drive technical trade decisions with the engineering leads.
- Build and maintain the integrated master schedule. Identify the critical path, unblock it, report progress against defined milestones and surface risk early.
- Coordinate hardware delivery against customer and launch commitments, working backwards from supplier lead times so that integration dates hold.
- Lead daily and weekly program stand-ups. Escalate aggressively and early.
- Develop production ramp plans, capacity models and cost-reduction roadmaps as the factory scales.
- Own change and configuration control for flight and ground hardware: define the policy, then make it stick as build rates increase.
- Define and report the KPIs that tell leadership whether the program is healthy, and present them directly to the exec team.
- Push the whole program to go faster. Remove blockers, compress the critical path and challenge timelines.
- Mentor junior project engineers and raise the bar for how the team plans and delivers.
Profile required
- Engineering degree (mechanical, industrial, electrical, aerospace or similar). You started as an engineer and have built, integrated or tested hardware yourself before moving into program execution.
- 5+ years on complex hardware programs, with direct ownership of the integrated schedule for at least one of them: critical path, milestones, dependencies and reporting to leadership.
- You have delivered hardware against a fixed external deadline (launch, customer delivery, start of production) and worked backwards from supplier lead times to hold it.
- Experience with change and configuration control on built hardware, and the judgment to apply process where it helps and skip it where it doesn’t.
- Comfortable driving alignment across design, manufacturing, supply chain and test, and holding engineering leads to their commitments without being the one who does the engineering.
- Direct, early escalation.
- Roughly 5+ years of relevant experience, but we care far more about what you delivered than how long you have been working.
- Professional English. French is a plus, not a requirement.
Nice to have
- Satellite, launch vehicle or spacecraft program experience, ideally in a fast-paced New Space environment
- Experience taking hardware from development builds into series production, including factory ramp and cost-down
- Capacity modelling, budgeting or cost roadmaps for a production program
- Scheduling tools (MS Project, Smartsheet, OpenProject or equivalent)
This role is probably not for you if your typical work has been tracking a schedule someone else owns, or reporting problems rather than solving them. At Gama the TPM is not a coordinator: you make sure the hardware ships.
Company description
Gama is a NewSpace startup based in Ivry-sur-Seine, near Paris. We are developing a next-generation power system for commercial LEO satellites — from solar array power conversion to battery energy storage. We design, build, and test our hardware in-house, and we move fast: our engineers see their designs go from schematic to flight hardware.
We are a small team where ownership matters: you own your subsystem end-to-end, from first calculations to test results. We work hands-on, we help each other without ego, and we treat mistakes as data — finding out why something failed is how we get better.
We offer:
- - Your work will fly. Contribute directly to the future of space exploration and Sustainable Space.
- - Access to cutting-edge facilities and development opportunities in the heart of the European space industry.
