**Job Purpose**:
In addition to the Job Objectives as set out in the Roles and Responsibilities Matrix, DC Team Leader will provide a Lead/Supervisory role to the Cabling & DC teams, gaining best in class engineering infrastructure and technical skills.
**Principle Accountabilities / Objectives**:
The DC Team Leader is responsible for effective duties as set out below and will provide additional support to ensure Cabling & DC teams deliver on time, in budget and quality. The DC Team Leader will also work towards gaining technical competence and adhere to Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) standards.
The post holder will be required to take on any additional duties which may be considered within the remit of the role.
Main Responsibilities:
Principal responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
**Team Leader Duties**:
- Provides effective and exemplary leadership of team; proactively investigates and provides solutions to operational issues; leads from the front managing and resolving issues or conflicts where apparent.
- Responsible in supporting resourcing team in ensuring efficient utilisation of Field Team, including relevant Apprentice schemes.
- Responsible in ensuring engineers timesheets and expenses are submitted in a timely manner; review timesheets and expenses against works completed with project manager; conducts error correction; approves timesheets and expenses when complete; ensures rules and policies are always applied
- Leads team by example with SHEQ related duties.
- Takes part in escalations.
- Submits timely reports to Line Manager on team performance.
- Suggests and leads process improvements within the business to drive increased service delivery and performance.
- Responsible for conducting regular 1-2-1’s; maintains and updates core appraisal documentation; sets out team and individual objectives; monitors and measures performance; implements and supports improvement plans where necessary in line with company policy; assist and gain feedback on suggested improvements and personnel developments.
- Be consulted on Network Design issues and faults, across a number of technical disciplines, provides System Integration Services from within a Network Operations Environment.
- Can motivate others and control a team environment.
**Field Duties**:
- Confident in communicating directly with Indigo Telecom and its customers
- Working in data centres duties will include installation of cabling infra-structure (terminating & testing) hardware installation, auditing of customer equipment, PPM, Report.
- Manual labour in supporting Telecoms Installers and Engineers.
- Fault Finding. Ability to receive instructions from GSC to resolve outstanding issues.
- Installation of metalwork, basket work and rack and stack services
- Fibre and cable pulling, dressing, labelling and secure of same
- Copper Cable termination including Cat "x" and E1 terminations
- Fibre Cable termination using Fusion Splicer or Polishing Techniques
- Use of Fluke Versiv tester to test Copper/Fibre installations
- Continuity, test and measurement of cable and fibre runs
- Installation Supervision of internal and external team members
- Develop fault diagnosis skills using OTDR testing procedures
- Provide a point of contact for escalation of technical issues arising.
- Field Installation Supervision of internal and external team members
- Provide Line Manager and GSC with feedback regarding works progress and on-site issues.
- Perform and document site surveys or supervise the sub-contracting of such activities
- Be responsible for the production of accurate, high quality project documentation
- Carry out tasks autonomously and provide feedback as required by the Project Manager
- Maintain familiarity with all Quality Systems and ensure that all work is compliant.
- Ability to manage own workload and meet all SLA's as required
Other Key Responsibilities:
- To ensure successful completion of all deployment activities to the customers satisfaction.
- To ensure continuous improvement in everything that engineers do in the pursuit of Indigo's business objectives
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships
- Comply with company & local standards, procedures & protocols with specific responsibility for performance to engineering key performance indicators.
- Ensure Health & Safety and Engineering Quality standards are maintained at all times.
- Represent and promote Indigo Telecom Group in a professional manner at all times.
- Demonstrate flexibility to meet business requirements.
- Complete other ad hoc duties as required.
