- Mitie on Ascension Island are seeking a dynamic, robust Security Manager to lead a small team providing security services on the MoD estate predominately aircraft and passenger handling.

**Main Duties**:

- Responsible to the Airfield Operations Manager for ensuring a full range of Protective and Air Transport Security measures are provided in accordance with MoD Security orders and the Overseas Territories rules and regulations.
- The role includes providing Air Transport and General security services, including responding to alarms, carrying out mandated checks, and maintaining security documentation and the issuing of Airside passes and AIB Identification cards.
- To ensure the safeguarding of passengers, ground personnel, crew and the general public from unlawful interference with visiting aircraft.
- Prevent unlawful entry to an aircraft and unauthorised carriage of prohibited items and dangerous air cargo, by means of manual searching techniques and with the aid of security screening equipment.
- Ensuring that there are sufficient ATSy personnel on duty to ensure that all aircraft are processed in accordance with extant security regulations, and that they are briefed on all activities related to their period of duty including changes to any ‘Threat', details of the Flying and Visitor programmes, specific areas that require special attention or concentration and the correct operation of security screening equipment.
- The Security Manager is responsible for ensuring that Security Combinations and Keys are changed / rotated as required by the references, and that the appropriate records are maintained.
- Additionally, the Security Manager is to ensure that security staff are aware and competent, in the changing of combinations and keys and the maintenance of the appropriate records.
- Work on a roster On-Call basis to provide first line contact for emergency duty.
- To carry out routine Security Patrols and checks of AIB facilities and assets on a daily basis including weekends and public holidays.
- Responding to Station Recall alarms and Major Incident Plan and ensuring that all Security personnel are aware of their responsibilities in an event of an Ascension Island Base emergency.

**What we are looking for**:

- Have 5 years' experience in working in the Security Sector, ideally on airfields
- Able to work independently with a flexible attitude, work under pressure, cope with last minute changes to the flying programme including flight delays.
- Full Clean driving licence.
- Have the confidence to make decisions and report incidents to ensure the safety of the aircraft.
- Will build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, RAF personnel, Air Crew and customers at all levels.
- Demonstrate a high level of Customer Service, maintaining a smart appearance, representing the company in professional character in communicating with the customer and passengers.
- Able to deal with awkward and argumentative passengers.
- Maintain the security of the Voyager Aircraft whilst on the ground.
- Ensure the Health and Safety at Work practises are carried out within the Security Section and the Air Terminal.
- Implement and monitor the Ascension Island Base No Smoking Policy for transiting passengers.
- Have good computer skills.

**Additional Details**:
Mitie will pay a competitive salary, monthly site allowance and bonus. Hours of work are 47.5 per week, not “9 to 5” but arranged around Aircraft movements and will entail early, late and weekend working. The contract duration is 27 months with 74 days leave excluding weekends. There will be an entitlement to the Ascension Island Bank Holidays. Flights will be arranged to and from Ascension Island for agreed holiday periods. The position is unaccompanied, single accommodation on Travellers Hill, 3 meals at the Combined Mess, all corporate work wear and PPE included. Must be capable of obtaining MoD basic level security clearance, evisa from the Ascension Government, be declared medically and dentally fit to work on Ascension Island
