**The job**:
As Senior Director, Sales, you will have regional responsibility for sales in South West EMEA (France, Iberia, Belgium & Netherlands), for Thermo Fisher Scientific’s entire Biosciences portfolio: Cell Biology, Cell Analysis, Flow Cytometry, Imaging, Antibodies & Immunoassays, Molecular Biology, qPCR Consumables, Protein Biology and Synthetic Biology, and Sample Prep.
You will be responsible for leading and developing a comprehensive commercial strategy, profitability objectives and achieving sales results by implementing robust forecasting and sales processes, hiring, retaining and developing key talent, establishing and maintaining strong relationships with our customers and channel partners, and working closely with all functions to drive customer value and satisfaction. Currently this business is approximately $280m in size and will comprise of over 50 people (7 direct reports, each managing their own teams).

- The Biosciences Division (BID), a $5B+ division within LSLPG, includes Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Protein and Cell Analysis, Antibodies and Immunoassays, Sample Prep, and Synthetic Biology business units. The combined portfolio offers our customers unique solutions across life science workflows, ultimately enabling them to accelerate their research and find answers to some of the key challenges that face society today in healthcare, security, energy and the environment._
**What will you do?**
- Manage the business with P&L responsibility for approximately $280M revenue, consistently delivering both top and bottom line financial metrics.
- Develop specific BID Commercial business plans for the region in conjunction with Marketing and Sales Operations functions.
- Offer regional input into various business units to facilitate a greater understanding of the global life sciences business.
- Have full responsibility for the achievement of revenue plans for the South West EMEA Region including direct sales channel, Territory Sales Specialist, e.Business and any distribution channels.
- Accurately forecast quarterly revenues and ensure that the group remains within the expense budget.
- Build a high-performance team by hiring, developing and engaging highly talented and motivated employees.
- Identify innovative and creative ways to protect the core businesses. Promote productivity within the Business Unit and across BID.
- Be a contributing leader of the EMEA BID leadership team, driving collaboration to ensure achievement of growth.
- Demonstrate and champion core authentic leadership behaviors. Promote diversity, including with respect to experience and thought leadership.
- Continually look to improve the sales processes, people, and sales coverage within the business.
- Employ and embrace PPI as a means to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the BID selling organization.
**Who we are looking for**:
- A Degree in a Life Science
- A minimum of 10 years’ commercial experience in the Life Sciences industry, of which a minimum of 5 years has been held in a leadership position (people management, specifically, managing managers) in a multinational matrix organization.
- The Senior Director, Sales is accountable for leading the direct sales of the entire Biosciences portfolio, to drive growth, increase the number of new accounts and achieve the company’s financial objectives. You must be a visionary, team-oriented sales leader, with a solid executive presence, strong communication and presentation skills, and the ability to drive sales.
- Proficient in implementing business strategies, forecasting, and providing marketing/competitive feedback and customer satisfaction relative to sales activities.
- A strong track record of driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Experience of working in a heavily matrixed environment is preferable.
- Results-oriented, highly motivated to succeed, sense of urgency, with an excellent work ethic and maintains the highest level of integrity and professionalism.
- Experience with best practices and challenges of a high performing field sales organization
- Comfortable with a high degree of weekly travel across the EMEA Region, including regular overnight stays.
- Fluent in English, additional European languages an advantage
- Valid driving licence
