Position Duties
Virtuos Games is seeking for a talented Lead Environment 3D Artist to join our team who is working with wide variety of video games ranging from indie to AAA. You will be leading our studio's art team, goals and collaboration between disciplines to push our games to the next level in the industry.
Responsibilities:
- Creation of game ready, next-generation 3d environment art, models, materials and textures.
- Collaborate with the Art Director and concept team in the creation of environments that support gameplay and storytelling.
- Provide regular guidance, constructive criticism & critical feedback to artists, ensuring that all art teams are producing assets that meet the overall visual style and quality bar.
- Research current and future processes and technologies to help the art team create beautiful worlds at scale.
- Work with tech art and engineering teams to ensure environment assets are performant while maintaining visual quality.
- Help train external partners on our art processes, visual bar and pipeline.
- Collaborate with other Artists to find the best solutions to all major technical and/or creative challenges facing the art team.
- Adapt to different type of projects in terms of their technical needs as well as artistic styles.
- Research and explore new developments in graphics software and technology that could benefit the studio.
- Collaborate with tools and engine teams to continually improve upon our custom workflows and technology.
Summary of requirements:
- A strong portfolio that demonstrates current and next generation environment art creation techniques.
- At least 2+ years of experience working in the video game and/or vfx industries.
- At least one shipped AAA title.
- Professional experience creating photorealistic clean and efficient models with proper UV layouts, bakes and textures for next gen games.
- Strong knowledge of 3D software like 3DS Max or Maya, Blender, Zbrush, etc.
- Experience with PBR workflows using texturing software such as Substance Designer / Painter.
- Experience working with real time engines likes Unreal, Unity, CryEngine, etc.
- Experience with creative problem-solving.
- Effective English written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Information
Bonus:
- Knowledge of other fields in 3d like animation, VFX, lighting etc
- Knowledge of procedural modeling or tool development in Houdini.
- Traditional art skills like drawing, painting or sculpting.
- Experience working with photogrammetry.
