Presentation of the structure The Translational Research in Medicine and Complexity Laboratory (TIMC) is a research laboratory (Joint Research Unit 5525, comprising the CNRS and Grenoble Alpes University), directed by Alexandre Moreau-Gaudry, covering interdisciplinary research at the heart of translational health research. It brings together more than 300 people, working closely with Grenoble Alpes University Hospital, and has multidisciplinary expertise, as demonstrated by the participation of researchers and clinicians. Through its GMCAO (Computer-Assisted Medical and Surgical Procedures) team led by Sandrine Voros, CR INSERM, the laboratory is a pioneer in the field of GMCAO and contributes its expertise in medical robotics with work initiated nearly 30 years ago in the field, the coordination of the LabEx in the CAMI field and the creation of more than 10 start‑ups, among other things. The GMCAO team aims to create, in the long term, an experimental, unifying platform dedicated to continuous/flexible robots for medical applications. The beginnings of this platform began in 2019 with the support of the CNRS (INS2I) and the recruitment of a permanent researcher specialising in the field. For more information: Main tasks: Under the authority of Mr Taha Chikhaoui, CR CNRS and member of the GMCAO team, you will have several tasks to carry out:Ensure the development of state estimation methods, derived from control theory, hybridised with AI for continuous robots based on the use of exteroceptive and proprioceptive measurements, as well as the mechanical modelEnsure the implementation and operation of imaging systems and image processingEnsure the implementation of specifically developed software and hardware, as well as conducting and supervising experimentsEnsure interaction with project partners and follow‑up Main activities: Study and structure the state of the art in state estimation and methods based on artificial intelligence. Study the scientific requirements related to the project and participate in drafting the specifications. Propose original methods for estimating the state of continuous robots and implement them. Learn how to use image processing tools and exploit them for state estimation. Oversee the implementation of software and hardware experiments, interpret them and validate them. Present, disseminate and promote achievements, in particular through scientific articles. Specific features of the position: These specific features are defined by the regulations of the University of Grenoble Alpes and the host laboratory (in this case, the TIMC laboratory). Required skills Automation State estimation Robotics Optimisation Deep learning/reinforcement learning Image processing Technical knowledge of engineering sciences Programming language (C++, Python) Written and oral presentation techniques (mainly Latex) English language: C1 minimum Operational skills Project management Autonomy and motivation Leading meetings Using specific software in the field Education, qualifications, desired experience PhD (or equivalent) in Automation, Robotics or a similar specialisation.Solid analytical skills and experience in state estimation theory (Kalman filters, observers, particle filters, etc.) are required. Advanced knowledge of deep learning/reinforcement learning methods is highly desirable. Knowledge of image processing would be a major asset. Remuneration: From €2,900 gross per month, depending on experience. #J-18808-Ljbffr
