Senior Database Engineer

Job SummaryThe Senior Database Engineer (Oracle and MSSQL) plays a critical role in optimizing operational processes and ensuring the effective delivery of services within the organization. This position is responsible for managing escalations, promoting customer satisfaction, and driving initiatives that enhance productivity and revenue generation. The lead will leverage technical expertise in Jenkins and PowerShell to implement automation solutions that support operational excellence.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure, and maintain Oracle MSSQLDB databases in production, development, and testing environments.Monitor database performance and implement tuning, indexing, and query optimization techniques.Manage replication, sharding, and clustering for high availability and scalability.Perform backup and recovery operations, ensuring disaster recovery readiness.Ensure database security, including authentication, authorization, and encryption.Work closely with developers to optimize database queries and schema design.Automate database maintenance tasks using scripts and tools.Experience of database migration from non-Exadata to Exadata environmentExperience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell for automation.Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD practices related to database management.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot database performance issues.Perform data migration and ETL processes when necessary.Monitor system logs, identify issues, and troubleshoot database problems.Keep up-to-date with MongoDB updates and best practices.Optimize operational workflows by implementing best practices in Oracle Administration and PostgreSQL, enhancing reporting capabilities and improving data management efficiency.Analyze client requirements and ensure the support team meets or exceeds service expectations through effective problem-solving and proactive communication.Lead and mentor the project team by defining project objectives, facilitating transparent communication, and promoting a culture of accountability and performance excellence.Drive innovation in process development by researching and applying new technologies and methodologies in Oracle and PostgreSQL environments to enhance productivity and service delivery.Develop tailored solutions that align with customer needs by leveraging technical expertise in Oracle Administration and PostgreSQL, ultimately driving positive business outcomes.Hands-on experience on HA, DR deployment on (MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle and Postgre)Database Migration and Optimization expertise on (MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle and Postgre)Database Performance management on (MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle and Postgre)Database Consolidation and Capacity management (MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle and Postgre)Skill RequirementsStrong proficiency in MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle and PostgreSQL Administration with a solid understanding of database management and optimization.Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets.Strong leadership capabilities, with experience in mentoring and developing team members.Familiarity with service level agreements (SLAs) and operational performance metricsOracle DatabaseOracle RACOracle Data GuardDB migration from Non-RAC to RACCross platform DB migrationExperience of Migrating non multitenant to multitenant database deploymentGood Experience of working on 19c databasesData guard administration and implementationHands on experience of RAC, Database and ASM managementSolid understanding of RAC components and architecturePerformance tuning experience of RAC and databaseGood understanding of Exadata ArchitectureClear understanding of Exadata features like Flash cache, Storage Index, HCC and IORMSolid exposure of Exadata hardwareUnderstanding of LUNS, Cell Disk and Grid diskImplementation experience of Exadata featuresUnderstanding of CELLCLI and DCLIPerformance tuning of Exadata component Exadata Patching on DB nodes/cell nodesUnderstanding of Cell Storage softwareExperience implementing TDE and Proficiency in replication, sharding, and database scaling strategies.Expertise in query optimization, indexing strategies, and aggregation pipelines.Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.Knowledge of database security best practices role-based access control, auditing, encryption.Familiarity with database monitoring tools like MongoDB Atlas, Ops Manager, Prometheus, or Grafana.Soft SkillsExcellent communication and documentation skillsStrong customer handling and stakeholder engagementAbility to manage high-pressure situationsHigh adaptability and proactive mindsetStrong collaboration and leadership qualitiesExperience in production environmentsExposure to microservices architectureExperience with release management and blue-green deploymentsFamiliarity with service discovery and configuration management toolsCertificationOCS CertifiedMCSA CertifiedA supportive, diverse, and global team with a brilliant culture.Competitive compensation and benefits that includes up to 20 days’ vacation per year, various insurances like Term life and Business Travel insurance.
