Pediatrics Service Line Director

OverviewPediatrics Service Line Director works on site and reports to the Chief Operating Officer. In close collaboration with the Pediatrics Clinical Director and other leaders in the service line, the Pediatrics Service Line Director oversees the strategic planning, development, and implementation of Pediatric Services at Salud Para La Gente, including Lactation services and the Healthy Steps program. They provide strategic and operational leadership by ensuring high-quality patient care, access, service line growth, and efficient resource utilization. They are responsible for the overall management, growth, and development of the service line, ensuring high standards of patient care and satisfaction. Salud began in Watsonville in 1978 as a storefront free clinic, and became a FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center) in 1992. With 4 health center sites, satellite and school-based health centers and over 400 employees, we provide high quality services to patients of all ages. Duties And ResponsibilitiesDevelops and implements the strategic plan for Pediatrics Services in collaboration with other department leadersOversees the daily operations of the Pediatrics Service line, including Lactation and the Healthy Steps programOversees support staff in the service line, as neededEnsures adequate clinic resources, staffing, flow, and support to provide excellent patient care and accessCollaborates with providers and staff to ensure high-quality patient care; monitors the quality of care provided and implements improvement measures as necessaryEnsures program compliance with internal and external regulations; supports audits by external entities. Adheres to regulations and requirements, including Medi-Cal, California Department of Public Health, Santa Cruz County Public Health Department, and Salud Para La Gente’s Policies and ProceduresOversees and monitors the financial management of resources, including budgeting and staffing, for the Pediatrics departmentWithin the Pediatrics service line, effectively collaborates with physician leaders, physicians, Advanced Practice Clinicians, IBCLCs, CLCs and other staff to ensure effective and efficient patient careAnalyzes performance data and makes informed decisions to enhance service deliveryDevelops and maintains professional relationships with key stakeholders, including Pediatrics providers, staff, and administratorsParticipates in hiring, training, and performance evaluations and improvement plans of Pediatrics staffUnderstands union processes and works collaboratively and effectively with union staffStays abreast of the latest advancements in health care and integrates them into service line planningResponds to patient complaints and incident reports. Documents, researches, and resolves incidents. Addresses patient complaints and issues professionally and compassionatelyCoordinates with Communications and Funding teams to promote Pediatric ServicesConsistently adheres to and/or exceeds SPLG’s communication guidelines and expectations with patients, peers, and supervisorsOther duties, as assigned Physical DemandsStanding, walking, sitting, typing, reaching, bending, moving and/or lifting up to 50 pounds. RequirementsBachelor’s and Master’s degree strongly preferred or a minimum of 5 years equivalent work experienceProven experience and track record in a leadership role in a healthcare setting; strong leadership and team management skills; strong understanding of medium to large-scale health care operationsPrevious experience directly managing and being an accountable leader for a large number of staff in a healthcare departmentKnowledge of healthcare regulations and medical terminologiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent skills in employee conflict management and resolutionExperience working in a union environmentExperience successfully working in partnership with a physician leaderProficient in healthcare management systems and Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to multitask and make decisions in a fast-paced environmentBilingual Spanish/English preferredPossession of a valid CA Driver’s license and insurance Salary & BenefitsSalary – N22: $132,067- $160,529Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurances, Voluntary Long Term Disability, 401(k) with employer contribution, PTO and Holiday pay.Salud is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer.
