Your Opportunity KPMG’s Financial Risk Management (FRM) team provides specialist risk management services to a wide range of clients, spanning financial services, energy and corporate sectors. We have an exciting opportunity for a manager to join our growing energy and commodity risk service offering within FRM. Role Overview We help our clients with a large range of quantitative risk management services in the areas of energy and commodity trading functions. As a Manager, you will Model Development and Validation – you will work with our clients to develop and implement a range of risk management models. You will also perform independent model validation for a range of trading and risk management models implemented by our clients. Derivative Valuation – assist clients to develop derivative valuation policies, methodologies, as well as a range of valuation models and tools. We work both as independent advisors as well as specialists to KPMG’s external audit teams to perform a range of derivative valuations. Leverage your knowledge of Energy Trading Risk Management (ETRM) system vendors and system environments to provide our clients with advisory, benchmarking, implementation and post‑implementation services. Develop or review existing trading and risk management policies and governance frameworks. Trading Controls Assessment – support our client’s internal audit functions to ensure that control frameworks around our client’s trading operations are appropriately designed and operating effectively. How you are extraordinary? You are able to digest, distil, and communicate complex concepts in both written and verbal forms. You are a strategic critical thinker, and love using that skill to solve complex problems and plan for the future. You are able to quickly build strong relationships and network with a variety of stakeholders both internal and external. Your Experience Experience and understanding of energy markets, trading and risk (essential) An interest in working on a diverse range of quantitative and qualitative modelling engagements across energy and commodity markets Experience using statistical packages such as SAS, R and Python (not mandatory) An ability to communicate and work with clients and team members, taking on mentoring and management opportunities as appropriate An ability to build trust with our clients and develop a network of contacts within the market. A demonstrated ability to solve new and technically challenging problems, either independently or as part of a small team Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
