Role Overview Our product‑management team are technologists with a passion for delivering solutions that shape market demands. In this role you will set a clear vision, prioritise work, and ensure the team delivers high‑quality products that meet business and user needs. You will drive product strategy, lead cross‑functional collaboration, and translate technical vision into market‑ready offerings. Key Responsibilities Lead the product development life‑cycle – reviewing priorities, goals and ensuring alignment across teams. Collaborate with engineering, design, marketing and sales to drive execution and keep business objectives on track. Conduct market research, analyse industry trends and gather customer feedback to identify opportunities. Communicate product vision, status updates and key decisions to stakeholders and manage expectations. Conduct usability testing, analyse feedback and iterate on the product to improve user experience. Develop go‑to‑market strategies, create product documentation and provide training in partnership with marketing, sales and support. Contribute to sales success by reviewing customer feedback, participating in meetings and identifying new opportunities. Oversee the work of a product line, ensuring consistency in strategy and execution across teams. Facilitate collaboration and resolve conflicts within and between departments. Open Product‑Manager Domains Ubuntu Platform – Desktop, Server, Windows (WSL), Multipass, Gaming, Enterprise & Hardware Enablement. Ubuntu Pro Services – Commercial offerings such as Compliance, Security Engineering and Managed Services. AI/ML & MLOps – Open‑source AI/ML solutions, AIOps automation, Kubeflow, MLFlow, KServe and AI infrastructure on cloud and edge. IoT – Ubuntu on embedded devices, device management and robotics. Cloud – Public and private clouds, automation frameworks, Kubernetes, MAAS and LXD. Telco – Open‑source solutions for Core Network, RAN/vRAN, SoNIC, DENT and SmartNICs. Finance – Trading platforms, blockchain technologies, regulatory compliance and AI‑driven analytics. Automotive – Autonomous driving, in‑vehicle infotainment, connected vehicles and compliance with ISO 26262 & ISO 21434. Application Management – Observability, IAM, App Stores, Grafana, GitOps and Juju Charms. Required Qualifications Exceptional academic record at high school and university. Strong understanding of Linux and the wider open‑source community. Comprehensive knowledge of computer architecture, cloud, data‑centres or devices. Passion for writing about technology and industry trends. Strong work ethic and personal alignment with the open‑source movement. Curiosity and a habit of continuous learning. Ownership mindset and problem‑solving ability. Outstanding communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Product‑management experience in the software industry (for senior positions). Ability to manage multiple projects or product lines while prioritising key objectives. Demonstrated leadership in aligning diverse teams and driving consensus. Willingness to travel internationally up to four times a year for company events up to two weeks long. Additional Skills We Value Familiarity with verticals such as Telco, Finance, Industrial, Automotive. Knowledge of silicon, IHV, ISV, ODM/OEM, cloud‑service providers and channel partners. Experience with cloud‑native technologies – Kubernetes, Docker, Snaps. Embedded‑device technology and ecosystem knowledge. Networking technologies – Ethernet, IPv4/IPv6, routing, firewalling, OVN/OVS, VPNs, SR‑IOV, InfiniBand. Telco networking – RAN, Core, CPE. Leading distributed teams across different time zones.
