About the Role ArcelorMittal is the world’s largest steel producer, using innovative technologies to create the steels of tomorrow. The Global R&D team, comprising 1,650 researchers across 14 Centres worldwide, continuously improves steel quality and manufacturing processes. You will be based at the Maizières Process research centre in France, working in a multicultural cluster of 35 researchers in three teams focused on developing and deploying process solutions for ArcelorMittal. Your role Lead ongoing investment plans within the department in the tribology field. Conduct technical watch and exploratory projects in lubrication. Support new product developments, including new steel grades for electric vehicles using semi-analytical models. Support process optimization using numerical methods. Validate R&D models by organizing and performing trials in all ArcelorMittal plants. Participate in the digitalisation process of the company by developing cutting‑edge tools. Contribute to the renewal of R&D activities by proposing new ideas and projects. Responsibilities and Mission Adapt and reinvent existing processes to support ArcelorMittal’s journey towards carbon‑neutral steel. Adapt processes to design new steel products aligned with environmental commitments and market trends (light‑weighting & electrification of vehicles). Participate actively in the digital transformation of ArcelorMittal. Improve the productivity and reliability of ArcelorMittal production lines. Qualifications You hold a Master’s degree in Solid Mechanics (PhD is a plus). You have first experience in Solid Mechanics and/or numerical modelling; a project‑leadership background is an asset. You possess strong skills in numerical computation methods and in C/C++ and Python (additional languages are a plus). You have experience in forming processes. You possess good skills in Finite Element Method. You are fluent in French and English. You are curious, results‑oriented, and adopt a structured approach. You have advanced communication skills and excel in a multi‑cultural environment. You are willing to travel worldwide. Values Comply with health and safety rules.
