Comprising 1,650 researchers spread across 14 Research Centres around the world, our Global R&D team aims to continuously improve the quality of steel and its manufacturing processes. This involves investigating and developing disruptive technologies, reducing the carbon footprint of steel, and optimizing costs while maintaining uncompromising quality. The team's strong multicultural diversity, with over 30 nationalities, offers international experience and makes it possible to meet global needs.

You will be based at the Maizières Process research center, in a multicultural cluster of 35 researchers organized into three teams, working on the development and deployment of process solutions for ArcelorMittal.

Business travels will allow you to work with partners in a worldwide perimeter and to experience different working cultures.

**Your role**

As Research Engineer in Automation for Rolling Processes, you will be involved in R&D projects related to the development and deployment of process solutions for our customers. Those solutions are mainly designed to:

- adapt and/or reinvent existing processes to pursue the ArcelorMittal progress towards carbon neutral steel
- adapt the process to design new steel products aligned with company's environmental committment and the market trends (lightweighting & electrification of vehicles)
- participate actively of the digital transformation of ArcelorMittal
- improve the productivity and reliability of ArcelorMittal production lines.

Immediately, you will take part of the following activities:

- Contribute to the development of an online rolling preset model for new products and improved its quality
- Contribute to the improvement of the run-out table control system of hot strip mills
- Contribute to the development of thermomechanical dynamic rolling model dedicated to Plates products
- Contribute to the improvement of the lubrication control model of rolling stands
- Support ArcelorMittal plants in a worldwide perimeter, to improve process conditions in existing hot strip mills and plate mills, through industrial trials, numerical simulations and process analyses
- Be involved to the digitalization process of the company with the development of cutting-edge tools
- Support new product developments, including new steel grades for electrical vehicles

**Your profile**
- You hold a Masters' degree in Mechanical and Automation Engineering. A PhD would be considered as an advantage.
- Experience as Mechanical Engineer or Process Automation Engineer would be a plus.
- You master real-time control systems design in an industrial context.
- You master identification of linear and non-linear system.
- You demonstrate knowledge in optimization and numerical modeling, in Solid Mechanics and in Signal Processing.
- You have good programming skills in Matlab, C++ and C#.
- Knowledge in machine learning algorithms as well as deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, Pytorch) would be a plus.
- You have an advanced level in English and French.
- You are curious, results oriented and innovative.
- You have advanced communication skills and excellent social skills when working on a project with a multi-cultural environment.
- You are willing to travel worldwide.
