Senior Platform Engineer

As a Senior Engineer on the Agent Onboarding team, you’ll build the core infrastructure that powers how customers deploy Datadog at scale.The Datadog Agent is software that runs on customer infrastructure and supports a wide range of platforms. It collects observability data from hosts and sends them to Datadog, where our customer can analyze their monitoring and performance data. Agent Onboarding team is responsible for developing and maintaining tooling for deploying and managing Agents across a wide infrastructure spectrum.This role focuses on the Kubernetes Operator, a critical product that automates Agent deployment for many of our largest and most complex customers. Your work will directly shape how users experience and trust Datadog from day one, making observability easier to adopt in diverse environments—from bare metal to containers to managed Kubernetes platforms.You’ll also maintain key integrations with infrastructure-as-code tools like Ansible and Puppet, helping customers manage Agents through the systems they already rely on. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.What You’ll DoLead development and ongoing maintenance of the Kubernetes Operator that manages the Agent lifecycle, supporting the deployment patterns of our largest customer segment.Improve and maintain the Helm chart and associated tooling for deploying the Datadog Agent into Kubernetes environments.Support a broad range of deployment environments—including virtual machines, hosts, macOS, containers, and bare metal—by evolving our tooling built on open-source systems such as Ansible, Puppet…Contribute to and maintain open-source repositories and ensuring long-term stability and usability.Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define roadmaps and deliver solutions that integrate cleanly into a wide variety of infrastructure setups.Who You AreYou have 10+ years of experience with a mixed background including platform / infrastructure engineering and software development.As a developer, you are comfortable using various programming languages (Go, Python, Java, Rust, c++, c#,...).You’re experienced (and eager to deepen your expertise) with Kubernetes and its ecosystem (Operators,...).You enjoy working in open-source, and you’re comfortable contributing to and maintaining public-facing projects.You take a pragmatic, customer-focused approach to building reliable tools and you already led multiple technical projects in your career.Datadog values people from all walks of life.
