By combining GIS, AI/ML, IoT, and mobile technologies, the solution drives major improvements in safety, quality, cost, and schedule for the solar industry. Construct has supported morethan 16+ GW of projects from leading owners and EPCs.The RoleTerabase’s Sr Manager, AI/ML Engineering Team is a member of the software product development team, reporting to the Head of Engineering who leads the Paris engineering team. Success in this role means you’re a strong technologist, thoughtful leader, and a culture role model.Our new Senior Manager, AI/ML Team will be asked to help build out and lead a team to develop AI/ML enabled features in products across the entire product ecosystem. This will involve architectural design/review and leadership as well as clear communication and advocating for alignment across multiple internal and external teams. This role will also actively collaborate with other engineering teams located in the United States as well as with our external software development partners centered in Belgrade, Serbia.ResponsibilitiesServe as the leader of Terabase’s Paris-based AI/ML Engineering team and help to grow a high-performing, mission-aligned team in the new Paris office.Work closely with Sr. Director Software in Paris to plan/guide/execute key Terabase AI/ML engineering team activitiesWork closely with other key software/digital team leaders: Director Construction Technologies, Director IoT Technologies, Director Autonomy, Principal Solution ArchitectLead a team of initially up to 4 staff direct reports including primarily AI/ML engineersConduct research and stay up to date with the latest advancements in machine learning and artificial intelligence systems and approaches.Perform rigorous testing and validation of machine learning based products and systems in diverse construction environments.Collaborate with our external software development teamsDesign, develop, build, test, deploy software to augment existing and create new Terabase software products to ‘digitalize’ the full lifecycle (development, design, construction, and operation) of solar power plants.Communicate with and support users of developed tools & productsChampion culture and communication by building bridges between the local team other Terabase teamsDevelop quality plans and testing approaches for your and the team’s codeRequirementsMinimum Qualifications7+ years experience with architecture, technologies, and approaches relevant to the AI/ML feature set in Terabase products – a SaaS web-based cloud-deployed modern software stackBS in Computer Science or equivalent industry and/or academic experience/training4+ years of experience (or academic equivalent) in developing software applications that employ AI/machine learning models and pipelines.Design/development/testing experience delivering complex software/digital product solutions into commercial/industrial projectsExperience with cloud applications, web stacks, and cloud-based infrastructure/managed servicesProficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, and MATLAB.Experience data labeling validation software frameworks.Experience with cloud-hosted software environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) – we are primarily an AWS shopExperience with and understanding of Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) concepts and techniquesAbility to work remotely and to work with distributed teams in various time zonesProficient written and verbal English communication skillsSolid programming skills, with exposure to object oriented and functional programming techniquesUnderstanding of and experience in unit testing and test driven development.Solid understanding of agile workflow management process and software product lifecycleGood understanding of ‘gitflow’ source code management development techniques and processTechnologies We UseCloud-hosted software environments (AWS)Relational (SQL), non-relational (no-SQL), and time-series data optimized (e.g., InfluxDB)IoT architectures, technologies, and applicationsPreferred QualificationsMS in Computer Science or equivalent academic/industry experience/trainingExperience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.Experience with SPARK based ML pipeline execution systems.Experience with AWS EMR or equivalent pipeline tools.Experience with data management and curation to maintain and improve model quality over time.Experience with software product design and software product managementExperience building ETL pipelines for large and frequently changing datasetsExperience with AI/ML technologies and building them into customer-facing productsExperience with ‘digital twins’ where physical assets and processes are modeled and tracked in softwareExperience with and understanding of GIS technologies and applicationsStartup company experience with a focus on building new products and accessing new marketsOur salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
