To succeed in this role, you must have demonstrable experience in successfully supporting environmental and social input to complex international development projects, and to a have a good knowledge of international lender E&S standards, including the IFC Performance Standards, the Equator Principles and the OECD Common Approaches.
Specialist knowledge and expertise in expert disciplines - social topics and biodiversity in particular.

Your new role
As our new Consultant or Managing Consultant, you will be part of our world-renowned Sustainable Finance team, which sits within our Global Impact Assessment and Biodiversity & Ecosystems Service Line. Based in France, you would be working closely with around 100 dedicated practitioners across our global office network in Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Americas. Working for both borrowers/sponsors and lenders, the Sustainable Finance team’s core services are to support the bankability of multiple international development projects. We offer the opportunity to work on important and prestigious projects across a range of geographies and sectors.
Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:
- Technical E&S input and delivery, including report writing and internal reviews, on a range of Independent Environmental & Social Consultant (IESC) projects for environmental and social due diligence (ESDD), impact assessment (ESIA) and strategic advisory support to clients.
- Project managing small to large-scale IESC ESDD projects or ESIA projects.
- Support/lead on world-wide site compliance audits and monitoring visits as part of IESC ESDD delivery.
- Support/lead on proposal management and writing.
- Support the implementation of the Sustainable Finance business development plan.
Your key deliverables within the first 12 months will be to:
- Successfully support/lead a number of E&S due diligence assessments on behalf of lenders.
- Successfully support/lead a number of E&S impact assessments on behalf of borrowers/sponsors to meeting international standards.
- Support/lead development of a number of proposals.
- Provide active support to the Business Development plan and the development of existing and new clients.

- Strong project management skills including project financial management.
- Technical expertise in environmental, social and/or biodiversity aspects of the international standards.
- A Bachelor/Master degree in a relevant environmental, biodiversity and/or social discipline.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Good presentation and technical report writing skills in both French and English.
- Ability to work independently, as necessary and collaboratively with a range of environmental, social and engineering technical specialists.
- Practical experience of the implementation of international lender E&S standards, including the IF
