Senior Backend Engineer, Barcelona – bsport Join us in building a platform used by over 10 million users worldwide. We’ve raised €30M Series B and aim to triple our valuation in two years. Your equity package will be highly relevant as the engineering team doubles this year. What you’ll do: Lead technical ownership of a product vertical, driving architecture, design, and delivery of scalable backend platforms. Guide large‑scale projects, including scaling multi‑region infrastructure with sharded PostgreSQL and distributed services. Conduct cross‑team architecture reviews and establish foundations for a high‑transaction system (>$1M daily volume). Create frameworks, conventions, and tooling to raise engineering quality and speed. Who you are: Experienced backend architect who has built and scaled systems for SaaS or product companies. Proficient with Python (Django/FastAPI) or can quickly learn new stacks. Strong communicator, fluent in English, comfortable mentoring engineers and influencing cross‑team decisions. Comfortable with a hands‑on leadership role focused on architecture without people management. Benefits: Competitive salary €73k–€93k + equity.
