Offer Description
This postdoctoral project aims to develop digital polymers capable of storing binary information at the molecular level. To achieve this, we will synthesize sequence-controlled polymers using a multi-step solid-phase approach. The project will require the use of reactors designed for this irradiation and will also explore the automation of chemical processes. The project will focus on the applications of these new polymers, particularly in the fields of anti-counterfeiting and biotechnology.
- Synthesis and characterization of monomers
- Multi-step solid-phase polymer synthesis
- Polymer characterization using MS, GPC, HPLC, and NMR
- Development of an automated synthesis system
- Writing reports and publications
This recruitment is part of the PEPR moleculArXiv project, which aims to prepare macromolecules containing digital information. The successful candidate will join the Laboratory of Informational Macromolecules Chemistry (LCMI) at the Institute of Supramolecular Science and Engineering (ISIS). LCMI is one of the eight senior research teams at ISIS and consists of around fifteen members. ISIS is located on the Esplanade campus of the University of Strasbourg, which is easily accessible by public transport. The successful candidate (M/F) will have access to a nearby staff restaurant at a subsidized rate.
This position is in a sector subject to the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST). In accordance with regulations, the appointment will therefore require authorization from the relevant authority of the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR).
- Theoretical and practical skills in polymer chemistry
- Expertise in solid-phase chemistry
- Hands-on experience in materials chemistry
- Fluency in scientific English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Ability to work in a team and independently
