Lead Payroll Specialist at OpenText As a Lead Payroll Specialist, you will own and drive end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery across the assigned payroll portfolio. You will act as a trusted expert, proactively identify improvements, manage risks, and support audits, while contributing to a smooth and compliant payroll experience for employees and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Start to end payroll processing for France and other EMEEA payrolls. Excellent knowledge in France payroll and employment compliance; deal with all payroll administration input/output, including benefits administration, compliance administration, tax, and financial year-end administration annually, quarterly and ad‑hoc; banking and treasury related activities. Responsible for all payment dispensations relating to payroll activity. Support all admin tasks linked to payroll compliance. Maintain excellent attention to detail, be proactive, anticipate and be prepared in advance; be conscientious and organised and lead by example. Plan and deliver on key tasks and deadlines. Help train other team members and develop own knowledge, keeping up to date at the required professional level. Support all queries/tickets from internal and external parties and from auditors; ensure all submissions to relevant external parties are made on time. Self‑starter who takes responsibility and delivers effective and efficient results. Investigate, carry out root‑cause analysis, review processes and procedures, identify risk, and work with leads and managers to manage risks to payroll operations. Support team members with an approachable attitude and lead large projects, taking accountability for delivering results. Manage team members in terms of support with their operational activities and professional development. Take on regional responsibilities / hub responsibilities. Support payroll managers and cross‑functional teams; ensure all operational processes and procedures are followed and act as the leader in continuous improvement, streamlining, harmonisation, and automation. Qualifications and Experience 8+ years of payroll experience; good knowledge of Finance, HR and compliance. Experience as payroll manager/lead payroll specialist in relation to upcoming legislative changes, streamlining opportunities, risks or concerns relating to payroll operations; ensure all deadlines are met. Proactive in communicating any issues or concerns; aware of roles and responsibilities, able to make decisions and communicate them to payroll lead/manager and other cross‑functional teams; discuss any issues and concerns. Build good working relationships with cross‑functional teams and understand their processes to anticipate risks and issues that may link to payroll operations. Always aware of audience requirements and level of knowledge when communicating effectively. Hold team meetings with payroll teams and cross‑functional teams; discuss operational activities, streamlining, harmonisation and automation opportunities; deliver implementations with excellent technical knowledge. Proactive in communicating issues and work collaboratively to manage processes and procedures. Main contact in managing risks to payroll operations within the given portfolio of payrolls; support and guide colleagues in the business. Extremely good communicator, both written and spoken, to small or large audiences.
