We're looking for a mechanical engineer who will design the body of robots that will live in hundreds of thousands of homes. You'll own the mechanical stack end to end and move fast: sketch on Monday, printed and tested by Friday.
You will work on
- Designing, iterating, and releasing production-ready mechanical parts and mechanisms with a strong emphasis on rapid prototyping through CAD and 3D printing.
- Writing the spec for each component and choosing the right one, turning product needs into measurable requirements, benchmarking options, and locking in the best fit.
- Managing tolerances and maintaining alignment across CAD models, BOMs, drawings, GD&T, and assembly instructions throughout the design lifecycle.
- Conducting detailed analysis and testing of new designs, diagnosing and resolving any mechanical or electrical issues.
- Integrating mechanical systems with actuators, sensors, fasteners, and electronics into cohesive robotic assemblies.
- Supporting simulation-to-real transfer by keeping CAD models, URDF, and physical builds tightly synchronized.
- Developing injection-molded components from concept through tooling and sampling.
- Preparing drawings, BOMs, and assembly documentation.
- Collaborating with vendors through production release.
- Maintaining clear revision history, supporting clean documentation for handoff to fabrication, assembly, or external vendors.
You are
- Someone with a Master's degree or PhD (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experienced in designing complex mechanical systems.
- A hands-on builder who loves CAD design and 3D printing.
- Passionate and opinionated about technology and design.
- Always working on a side project and exploring the latest tools.
- Someone with a chip on their shoulder who gets a thrill from proving doubters wrong.
