CCAC Scaling up Coordinator for the Super Pollutants Accelerator in Mexico

Organizational context: The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) hosts the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) Secretariat. Mexico, a leader in super pollutant mitigation, is part of the CCAC Super Pollutant Country Action Accelerator. This role supports the Government of Mexico in scaling up mitigation efforts, working under SEMARNAT policy direction and INECC technical guidance.

Job purpose: The CCAC Scaling up Coordinator will support Mexico's Government in enhancing the mitigation impact of the Super Pollutants Accelerator Programme. This involves identifying funding opportunities, cultivating strategic partnerships, and supporting proposal development. The role ensures effective coordination of the funding pipeline to scale up action on super pollutants and secure the sustainability of mitigation efforts beyond CCAC support. The coordinator will contribute to institutional strengthening, project adoption, and the retention of key technical capacities, aligning resources strategically and fostering long-term climate leadership.

Responsibilities:
Identify and cultivate national, bilateral, and multilateral funding opportunities. Develop and submit high-quality funding proposals and concept notes. Establish and manage a financial tracking system for resource mobilization and allocation. Cultivate strategic partnerships and coordinate participation in key international fora. Develop and implement integrated coordination frameworks and work plans for SLCP initiatives. Support the development of sustainability, financial, and institutionalization plans for the Accelerator program. Produce strategic engagement materials linking national implementation with international processes. Coordinate donor engagement and relationship management. Collaborate with technical, programme, finance, and operational teams to develop funding opportunities and ensure project adoption and institutional continuity.

Education:
An advanced degree in environmental management, public policy, international development, international relations, finance, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted. Professional training or certification in fundraising, partnership development, or business development is desirable.

Work

experience:
5-8 years of experience in climate project management, grant writing, and donor coordination, preferably in Latin America or within Mexican public institutions. Proven track record in accessing international climate finance and navigating public procurement processes. Experience with CCAC, UNFCCC, NDC implementation, and coordinating donor engagement is desired.
