Senior Data Engineer

Location: Paris, France – hybrid

Contract: 6-month freelance contract with potential extension

The Opportunity

We are looking for two Senior Data Engineers to support the continued development and improvement of an established Consumer Data Platform.

The platform is built using Python, SQL, dbt, Snowflake and Microsoft Azure, and enables consumer data to support downstream marketing and customer-focused use cases.

With the main platform now established, the focus is on improving its quality, reliability and maintainability. This includes resolving technical debt, strengthening architecture, improving data pipelines and ensuring the platform can continue to scale.

This is a hands-on position for someone who takes ownership of technical challenges and proactively works with the wider team to deliver solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and improve data pipelines using Python and SQL
• Build and maintain data transformations using dbt
• Work with Snowflake and Azure-based data environments
• Improve the reliability and performance of the Consumer Data Platform
• Identify and resolve bugs, technical debt and platform weaknesses
• Contribute to data architecture and technical design decisions
• Investigate issues across upstream and downstream systems
• Take ownership of technical problems through to resolution
• Collaborate with engineers, architects and business stakeholders
• Improve engineering standards, testing and software quality
• Communicate blockers clearly and proactively seek solutions

Required Experience

• Strong commercial experience as a Senior Data Engineer
• Advanced Python and SQL skills
• Hands‑on experience with dbt
• Strong Snowflake experience
• Experience working within Microsoft Azure
• Experience designing and developing modern data platforms
• Good understanding of data architecture, modelling and pipelines
• Ability to work independently and manage technical priorities
• Strong communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills
• A proactive approach with clear evidence of ownership

Experience working with consumer, customer, retail or marketing data would be beneficial but is not essential.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be more than a ticket‑focused engineer. They will be curious about how the wider platform operates, comfortable working across teams and willing to take responsibility for solving problems.

Working Arrangement

The position is hybrid, with approximately one week per month required in Paris. This can potentially be divided into shorter blocks of on‑site attendance.

Additional on‑site interaction may be required during the initial onboarding period to support integration with the team.
