À propos de nous
Join the Paul Pascal Research Center (CRPP) – of the University of Bordeaux This laboratory is a joint unit of the CNRS and the University of Bordeaux. It is made up of six research teams and several common services. Its research activities are divided into three complementary areas with a strong multidisciplinary aspect: soft matter, functional materials and interface with biology.
As part of the LIGHT Major Research Program (GPR), we are recruiting a Post‑Doctoral Researcher W/M in nanosciences. This interdisciplinary project is conducted in collaboration with the Center for Structural Biology (CBS) of Montpellier, specialized in DNA‑based nanotechnologies.
This project aims to develop a new approach for the fabrication of nanoparticles bearing several distinct domains ("patches") with controlled shape, orientation and position on their surface. The ultimate goal is to use these nanoparticles as building blocks for programmed self‑assembly of aperiodic photonic structures with emerging optical properties.
Mission
You will be in charge of the development and characterisation of DNA‑functionalised nanoparticles, combining surface functionalisation approaches of nanoparticles and DNA origamis.
You will work in a highly interdisciplinary environment, at the interface between colloidal nanoparticles, surface chemistry, DNA‑based nanotechnologies and self‑assembly.
You will be supervised by Serge RAVAINE, in collaboration with the researchers involved in the project at CBS.
Functionalisation of nanoparticles
- You functionalise nanoparticle surfaces with DNA strands
- You develop strategies to control the location of features on the surface of nanoparticles
- You develop nanoparticles with several distinct and controlled surface domains
DNA Origamis
- You are implementing strategies based on DNA origami to encode information on the surface of nanoparticles.
- You adapt and combine origami nanostructures with functionalised nanoparticles
Synthesis and characterisation of nanoparticles
- You prepare and characterise the nanoparticles used in the project
- You study their morphology and organisation at different scales
- You notably carry out characterisations by transmission electron microscopy (TEM)
Self‑assembly of photonic structures
- You are studying the programmed self‑assembly of nanoparticles with patches
- You are exploring the formation of aperiodic structures from these colloidal bricks
You contribute to the scientific dissemination of results within the teams involved in the project and through scientific communications and international publications.
The + of this offer:
an experience in an international scientific environment at the interface between nanoscience, nanotechnology, DNA and materials science
Profil
Holder of a PhD in chemistry, physics, materials science, nanoscience or a related field, you ideally have experience in the synthesis and characterisation of nanoparticles and/or DNA‑based nanotechnologies.
- You are a skilled experimentalist, with a strong affinity for interdisciplinary research
- You are autonomous and rigorous in your experiments
- You have a real interest in interdisciplinary research
- You are proficient in nanoparticle synthesis and characterisation techniques, or have experience in DNA nanotechnology
- Experience in the preparation and characterisation of DNA nanostructures such as origami is an asset
- An experiment in transmission electron microscopy (TEM) would be appreciated.
- You demonstrate good communication skills and appreciate teamwork
- You are proficient in English in an international scientific context
