Senior Backend Web Developer – Client Facing Platform EMEA (F/M/D) Flowdesk’s mission is to build a global financial institution for digital assets, designed from the ground up for market integrity and efficiency. We employ a disciplined, first‑principles approach across our services—from institutional liquidity provision to comprehensive treasury management. We are seeking a senior backend engineer to own our client platform. This hands‑on role covers the API layer to the end‑to‑end workflows our institutional clients rely on daily. You’ll design and build backend services in Rust, lead a small team, and set clear expectations for security and quality. What You’ll Do Take technical ownership of the client-facing platform—design, delivery, and continuous improvement. Lead and mentor a small team, maintaining high standards for code quality and secure engineering practices. Collaborate with product managers and frontend engineers to translate client needs into seamless workflows. Build and evolve APIs in Rust, prioritising security and clarity. Ensure all releases comply with best practices (OWASP Top 10, SQL safety, authentication/permissions). Remain close to the product stream, shaping features that give clients confidence when trading. Requirements 5+ years of backend engineering with significant experience in crypto, fintech, or trading environments. Production experience in Rust is required. Proven track record building secure, client‑facing APIs. Strong knowledge of SQL and event‑driven systems. A product mindset—focused on “why” as well as “how.” Experience mentoring or leading small engineering teams. Pragmatic commitment to shipping high‑quality systems. Nice to Have Familiarity with trading workflows (orders, balances, settlements). Contributions to Rust or security‑related open‑source projects. Understanding of regulatory/compliance requirements for financial platforms.
