No Offer Description Arboviruses, viruses mainly transmitted to humans through the bite of infected mosquitoes, represent a growing and unpredictable threat to the human species. However, despite growing collective awareness of the dangers associated with such viruses, little progress has been made in the discovery of antiviral drugs. Since the skin is the site of arbovirus inoculation, it is essential to decipher the key mechanisms involved in the skin's response to these infections. The mission is to broaden and deepen our understanding of arbovirus infections and the antiviral mechanisms at work in human skin. Transcriptomic analysis and tissue engineering approaches will be implemented to address this issue. Responsibilities Mosquitoes: Insect handling, virus microinjection, saliva collection. Single-cell transcriptomic analysis (scRNA-seq), quantitative PCR, and bioinformatic analyses. Analysis of infected human tissue: flow cytometry, immunofluorescence. Cell biology: Dissociation of human skin tissue, maintenance of primary cells in culture and management of their stocks, reconstruction of human skin in three-dimensional culture. Production and titration of viral stocks. The selected candidate will join a multinational team called “Physiopathological interactions of the immune system with its microenvironment” within the "Immunology, Immunopathology and Therapeutic Chemistry (I2CT)," one of three laboratories hosted by the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology (IBCM) located on the central campus of the University of Strasbourg, France. This unit is dedicated to the study of the molecular and cellular bases of immunity under physiological and pathological conditions and the use of nanomaterials as therapeutic tools. The team is currently led by Dr. Christopher G. Mueller and consists of about fifteen people. The Institute is easily accessible by bus and tram. The CNRS contributes to the payment of private health insurance and public transportation expenses. An administrative restaurant is available on campus. Meals are subsidized by the CNRS. Qualifications Knowledge of host defenses or molecular virology. Ability to work in a confined environment (BSL3) and to handle viruses and mosquitoes in this environment. English language proficiency at level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages; C1 corresponds to the level of autonomy. Autonomy, ability to critique/analyze one's own work and that of colleagues with constructive suggestions. Ability to supervise interns and students.
