**Context**
In the context of a national project, the team RESIST is building a platform dedicated to programmable networks that consists of multiple P4 hardware switches, smartNIC and servers dedicated to virtualization (also including GPUs). The platform will be used in priority by researchers to test theoretical algorithms in particular in the context of network security, for example to test in-network detection or reaction algorithms to attacks. Besides, the platform will be used at a larger scale for other types of experimentation requiring computational resources. The platform is intended to be interconnected with other local platforms (5G, IoT) and possibly external ones (IIoT and IoT).
Principales activités
**Project descriptio**n and tasks**
The objective is to build the platform knowing that an initial setup has been done (using Proxmox for management) and above all continuously extend the platform to meet the need of the researchers. As a research engineer, you will have the opportunity to be involved in research work in collaboration with the researchers in particular to setup realistic experimental conditions and providing solutions for deployment and monitoring.
As a the platform is intended to be used by multiple people including external collaborators, a particular attention must be given to the documentation and the guidance on platform usage.
More specifically the tasks are:
- develop and maintain the platform using open-source or community tools in priority
- advise on hardware and software to be acquired
- maintain the platform, the technical and end-user documentation
- manage the access to the platform
- provide training and tutorials to users
- assist the platform’s user when deploying experiments
- participate to research work by providing advising on experimental capabilities and participating to the experiments
It is worth noticing that as a programmable network platform, the engineer will need to deal with different (sometime not mature yet) technologies related to Software-Defined Networking
Compétences
**Required qualifications**
- Required qualification: Diplôme d’ingénieur, Master degree in Computer Science or Computer engineering
- Required knowledge: networking, SDN technologies, virtualization and dockerization
- Languages: C, Shell, python, BPF, P4
- Software developement: continuous integration and collaborative development using gitlab
- Fluent in english (writing and oral communication)
- Comfortable with meetings and webconference situations
