About the Role As Director Mechanical Design you will lead the structural and kinematic design of Liebherrs Mining Hydraulic Excavators including cabins, buckets and engine integration. You will ensure Liebherr Colmar remains the centre of competence for mechanical design driving innovation and ensuring robust high-quality solutions that meet demanding mining applications worldwide. Key Responsibilities Lead develop and motivate a team of c. 45 Engineers (with 6 direct reports) covering the main frame cabin bucket engine integration. Promote technical expertise and expert career paths; prepare succession plans. Own accountability for excavator structural and kinematic design including cabins buckets and combustion engine integration. Ensure structural robustness material integrity and safe integration of all mechanical components. Drive innovation in structural design materials and kinematics to support Liebherrs long-term mining strategy. Deliver projects on time on quality and within cost across the full product lifecycle (innovation development production in-service). Ensure capitalisation of know-how and maintain competence centre status in structures materials and mechanical integration. Provide vision and leadership to highly skilled technical teams balancing operational delivery with long-term capability development. Collaborate with peer directors and the Liebherr management board to achieve company and division objectives. Profile Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 15 years of progressive engineering leadership in heavy machinery mining equipment or large-scale industrial vehicles. Proven expertise in structural and kinematic design material science and engine integration. Strong record of leading cross-functional engineering teams with a product ownership mindset. Fluent in French English and German. Strategic thinker able to balance detailed technical expertise with a big-picture product view.
