We’re hiring an Accounting Lead to take ownership of the French accounting setup in a fast-growing multi-entity environment. Your main goal will be to take full ownership of Shiftmove’s end-to-end accounting operations and stabilise, structure, and elevate accounting operations in France. What you’ll do Own the end-to-end French accounting framework across multiple legal entities (French GAAP) Review, validate, and challenge accounting entries and closing outputs prepared by the team Structure and improve processes, controls, and ways of working in a non-fully structured environment Act as the main point of contact for auditors, tax advisors, and external partners Oversee statutory accounts, tax filings (VAT, corporate tax, fleet tax) and audit preparation Support system usage and improvements (NetSuite and/or Sage), ensuring data quality and reliabilityPartner closely with Group Finance and HQ to ensure alignment and timely reporting Coach and support more junior team members, raising the overall accounting standard What success looks like in the first 6 months French accounting is reliable, predictable, and audit-ready Clear ownership and expectations are in place across the team Closing cycles are smoother, with fewer escalations and last-minute fixes Stakeholders trust the numbers and know when and how to get answers What we’re looking for Roll up sleeves get it done mindset Strong hands-on experience with French GAAP in a multi-entity environment Proven ability to build or rebuild accounting processes in a growing company Comfort operating in ambiguity and taking ownership where things aren’t fully defined Solid experience with VAT, corporate tax, and statutory reporting in France Ability to engage confidently with auditors and external advisors Experience with NetSuite and/or Sage is a strong plus Background in an accounting firm and/or a French scale-up environment is helpful Why this role matters Without this role, the risk of errors, delayed closings, audit pressure, and team burnout remains high.
