With a global R&D team of 1,650 researchers across 14 research centres, we continuously improve the quality of steel and its manufacturing processes through disruptive technologies, carbon‑footprint reduction, and cost optimisation while maintaining uncompromising quality. You will work in the Quality & Product Department within the Process Research Lab on the Maizières campus, the largest ArcelorMittal R&D centre. The department’s mission is to develop and deploy innovative digital solutions for product quality management—conformity checks, root‑cause analysis, predictive quality—across the entire production stream from Continuous Caster to Finishing lines. These solutions are already deployed in 48 production lines in 23 plants worldwide, contributing to multi‑million dollar value creation. Your role As Research Engineer in the Quality & Product Department, you will lead impactful projects that shape product quality and drive digital transformation. Role Responsibilities Lead global deployments of digital quality‑management solutions, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and performance. Support plant teams by advising quality managers on optimal use of the solutions and tuning applications to enable rapid, data‑driven decision making. Develop predictive models using the extensive data from deployed solutions to correlate process variables with product defects or properties, accelerating quality crisis resolution. Create new digital services that respond to customer insights and needs, directly influencing product quality and innovation. Steer development initiatives, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to evolve existing solutions in line with new customer expectations and product developments. Your profile Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering (Data Science certification or equivalent competencies preferred). Experience in industrial quality management. Knowledge of instrumentation, information systems, and data science. Analytical skills, critical thinking, rigor, and logic. Mature understanding of steel‑making process, product quality, and quality modelling. Ability to work in a multicultural team, communicate and share knowledge across stakeholders. Willingness to learn constantly, curiosity, and innovative mindset. Project‑management skills. Fluency in French and English.
