About This Opportunity
INRIA is seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our research team focused on the exciting field of foundation models and their deployment on embedded systems. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research with real-world impact.
Research Focus
The primary objective of this PhD is to investigate how foundation models can be incrementally learned on resource-constrained embedded systems. This involves exploring the challenges posed by catastrophic forgetting when applying standard fine-tuning techniques to these models.
You will delve into existing state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods for incremental learning and adapt them to the specific constraints of embedded systems, such as efficiency, privacy, low energy consumption, and robustness. Ultimately, you will develop novel methodologies tailored for foundation model incremental learning on embedded platforms, ensuring their ongoing performance and adaptability.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Hold a Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related field.
- Possess a strong foundation in computer science and mathematics.
