Position Overview
We are in search of a proactive, detail-oriented, and service-driven individual to fulfill the role of Legal Counsel at CIMMYT.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the Contract Life Cycle Management by drafting, reviewing, negotiating, amending, and managing contracts and agreements entered into by CIMMYT with various national and international entities.
- Maintain and organize the archive of contracts, documents, and agreements pertinent to CIMMYT's research and institutional activities.
- Ensure diligent follow-up on assigned matters, tracking these issues daily through provided dashboards and preparing progress updates for relevant departments, ensuring timely completion of requests related to the review and drafting of various agreements and legal matters.
- Conduct research and analysis of laws, regulations, and procedures to provide legal support in relation to institutional matters within the context of diverse legal frameworks.
- Represent the Legal Department and CIMMYT in interactions with various authorities and forums.
- Draft legal correspondence, memos, meeting minutes, and other necessary documentation.
- Engage in the optimization of processes for legal services and guidelines.
- Support internal operations managed by the Legal Department.
- Perform legal research and analysis, preparing presentations and consolidated reports for the Legal Department.
- Execute other related tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications
- A Degree in Law is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in-house or in similar roles is preferred.
- Proficiency in English at an advanced level is essential, with a minimum score of C1 on the CEFR scale.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe software is necessary; experience with Contract Automation software is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong attention to detail, are crucial.
- The candidate should demonstrate a sense of urgency and commitment to responsibilities and deadlines.
- The selected candidate must exhibit competencies in Teamwork, Customer Orientation, and Achievement Orientation.
Benefits
This position offers an initial fixed-term contract of 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. CIMMYT provides a competitive remuneration package, including a variety of benefits such as health insurance.
