Electrical Controls Specialist

Vernet US is a global leader in the manufacturing of diesel thermostats and pressure control devices. We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer/Technician to join our team in Columbus, IN.
Job Summary:We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Controls Engineer/Technician to design, develop, and implement control systems for our production equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in robotics and automation, as well as experience with PLC programming and control panel design.
Key Responsibilities:- Create programs for automated assembly machines using Ladder Logic in various PLC software programs.
- Modify existing programs to improve assembly processes and resolve quality issues.
- Assist in special projects and machine re-builds, including modifying existing programs and creating new ones.
- Assist design engineers in electrical & controls specification for new machines & special projects while keeping costs in mind.
- Design electrical control panels for special projects & update current drawings using AutoCAD.
- Assist maintenance in troubleshooting various machine issues including but not limited to PLC, Vision, projects, robots, and electrical issues.
- Troubleshoot, reset, and teach robots for pick & place of components during assembly operations.
- Maintain effective communications with involved departments for assigned projects.
- Update current programs and new programs taking into consideration machine efficiency and safety.
- BSE/BSET and 3-5 years of related engineering experience and a background in Robotics and Automation.
- Knowledge of controls principles.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a priority manner, under pressure and deliver results within deadlines.
- Must have attention to detail, self-starter, and work with minimal directions.
- Project management skills are important.
- Able to understand and operate machines.
- Experience in industrial pick and place type robotics.
- Must have good listening and verbal communication skills.
- Constant need for the accurate exchange of information through the phone, computer, and in-person.
- Constantly moves safely about the building to conduct business.
- Constantly must wear common protective or safety equipment – ANSI Z87.1 2003 standard safety glasses are required in plant.
