Reporting StructureThis role reports to the Finance Manager.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe primary objective of the Regional Trade Compliance Specialist (RTCS) is to assist local business management across three countries (Spain, France, and Portugal) in ensuring that all operational processes adhere to ABB's trade policies and guidelines. The RTCS will provide practical support to local staff in meeting trade-related obligations and achieving strategic trade goals. The RTCS will serve as the main contact for trade issues within local businesses and will regularly inform local management and the Country Trade Compliance Officer (CTCO) about potential risk areas.
The RTCS will also support the implementation and ongoing management of ABB's Global Trade Program and assist the CTCO in maintaining oversight and effective communication regarding trade-related regulatory changes.
Working ModelThis position operates under a hybrid working model.
Responsibilities Include:- Ensuring that local trade policies, guidelines, and procedures align with corporate and business area regulations and are effectively implemented by respective businesses.
- Developing and maintaining documentation for local compliance with export control and sanctions regulations, as well as customs compliance requirements, with input from the CTCO and Global Trade.
- Implementing and maintaining a general awareness program on export control and customs compliance for local staff, providing training as necessary.
- Maintaining an updated overview of all trade-related policies, processes, and tools applicable to the local unit, ensuring management is aware of these updates.
- Assisting the CTCO in applying for necessary customs and export control licenses or authorizations from relevant government agencies.
- Supporting the CTCO in conducting local Trade Reviews and performing annual self-assessments of local trade compliance.
- Reporting any suspected export control violations to both the CTCO and in-house legal counsel, as well as notifying the CTCO of sensitive customs compliance issues.
- Collaborating with the CTCO, Information Systems management, and local business management to ensure effective utilization of SAP's Global Trade Services compliance and customs modules.
- Fostering cross-functional collaboration among various departments (Engineering, Product Management, Quality, Supplier Quality, etc.) to promote continuous improvement in trade management and compliance.
- Assisting the local Business Area controller in preparing financial reports, business plans, budgets, and forecasts for the local unit in France.
- Analyzing business performance against budget and forecasts, and proposing improvement actions accordingly.
- Validating the accuracy of financial data and business information through reconciliations and reviews of exceptions.
