Paris, Île-de-France Mirus Wales Temps plein
Research Opportunity in Quantum Electrochemistry

We are seeking a highly skilled researcher to join our team at Mirus Wales in the field of quantum electrochemistry. The successful candidate will be working on the development of lab-on-chip devices for detecting cancer cells and extracellular vesicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement molecular-scale simulations to characterize DNA aptamers and their interactions with electrodes and redox molecules.
  • Develop quantum-mechanical electron transport simulations to calculate tunneling currents as a function of DNA-protein interactions.
  • Collaborate with experimental groups to integrate theoretical and computer modeling results with experimental data.
Requirements:
  • Strong background in applied mathematics, computational modeling, fundamental physics, biophysics, statistical mechanics, molecular modeling, or basic cell biology.
  • Working knowledge of Linux/Unix, C/C++/Fortran, Python, and experience with all-atom molecular simulations and quantum-mechanical electron transport simulations.
About the Project:

The PhD project aims to develop an innovative lab-on-chip device for detecting cancer cells and extracellular vesicles. The device will utilize DNA aptamers carrying redox species to detect the presence of cancer cells through quantum-tunnelling current. The project will involve extensive all-atom molecular simulations and quantum-mechanical electron transport simulations to characterize the DNA aptamers and their interactions with electrodes and redox molecules.

Funding and Duration:

The project is fully-funded by a GRAEL grant from the University of Lille. The PhD student will be employed for a period of 3 years, with the possibility of short visits to the group in LIMMS/IIS Tokyo (Japan).
