Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Product Line Designer to join our team at Canada Goose. As a key member of our design team, you will play a critical role in the development and execution of our product lines.
About the Role
This is a full-time opportunity for a highly motivated and organized individual with a passion for fashion design. You will be responsible for managing and executing all aspects of product line design, from concept to production. This includes developing seasonal colour palettes, managing colour processes, and working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage seasonal colour palettes, including research, development, and selection of colours.
- Manage and execute all aspects of colour processes, including colour logic, colour keys, and labdip requests.
- Work closely with design directors to establish seasonal colour palettes.
- Collaborate with senior graphic designers and outside consultants as needed to ensure premium execution of core product lines.
- Coordinate and manage all design colour tools.
- Research and design designated styles from concept to proto approval.
- Support special projects with the Design Manager and Design Team.
- Work closely with Merchandising partners to ensure all designs support business objectives.
- Enter all data required into PLM and update as necessary.
- Communicate designs, BOMs, and updates/changes throughout the proto process with PDE partners.
- Support the Design Team in all fits and provide design voice in fittings on designated styles.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Fashion Design.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (French is an asset).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
- General knowledge of patternmaking and critical product construction.
- General knowledge of materials (fabrics and trims).
- Excellent presentation skills of both designs and creative concepts.
- CAD development skills for construction of garments and merchandised presentations.
- Prior experience with Product Line Management (PLM) is an asset.
- Well-organized and proficient in time management.
- General knowledge of line merchandising.
- Able to research independently.
- Has a critical eye on the market, runway, and current trends.
- Brings newness to the design process through exploratory thinking and executing.
- Demonstrates creative ability that exceeds market expectations.
