Job Title: Patent Engineer
About the Role:
L'Oréal, a leading company in the beauty industry, is seeking a skilled Patent Engineer to join their Industrial Property Department in France. As a Patent Engineer, you will play a crucial role in managing the company's patent portfolio, ensuring freedom to operate of processes and products, and providing guidance on patent law to R&I/Operation management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the group's patent portfolio, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct Freedom to Operate studies to identify potential patent infringement risks.
- Analyze competitor products in relation to patents, providing strategic recommendations to the business.
- Provide guidance on patent law to R&I/Operation management, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Handle opposition/appeal procedures, protecting the company's intellectual property rights.
- Contribute to due diligence studies, evaluating the patent landscape of potential acquisitions or partnerships.
- Train researchers on IP issues, ensuring a culture of innovation and compliance.
- Coordinate patent activities between different hubs, ensuring seamless collaboration and communication.
- Advise on IP clauses in contracts, ensuring the company's interests are protected.
Requirements:
Legal Skills:
- European patent representation, with a strong understanding of patent law in multiple regions.
- Experience with Freedom to Operate studies, with a proven track record of identifying potential patent infringement risks.
Technical Skills:
- Understanding of various devices and manufacturing processes, with a focus on mechanical assembly and materials.
Human Skills:
- Strong teamwork and business approach, with the ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Risk awareness and autonomy, with a proactive mindset and a customer-centric approach.
- Good organization and management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Continuous learning mindset, with a strong desire to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in patent law and technology.
- Fluency in French and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
