Apprenticeship – Network Reliability Engineer (F/M)

Your Role

As a Network Reliability Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our Network Services are architected, implemented, and maintained at scale, prioritizing high availability and performance in line with our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles. Your focus will be on reliability, innovation, expertise, scalability, and agility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create new shared services to enhance Worldline's operational speed and innovation.
  • Integrate community-driven products into our ecosystem.
  • Develop custom tools using scripting or advanced programming languages.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization.
  • Assist business units in transitioning their existing solutions to our new infrastructure through coding, automation, and CI/CD practices.
  • Manage, innovate, and develop shared services and tools that consistently enhance the availability, scalability, and efficiency of Worldline.
  • Work collaboratively to design fast, reliable, and resilient production systems.
  • Enhance and configure our automation framework and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Produce documentation for all collaborators to utilize, improve, and share, including both technical and user documentation.
  • Perform daily operational tasks such as change management, application monitoring, and deployment.
  • Ensure the security of our services, particularly critical in the payments industry.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Academic or Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Network and automation within a high-availability environment.
  • Self-sufficient and quick to learn.
  • Proficient in development and programming.
  • Capable of engaging with both technical and non-technical personnel at all organizational levels.
  • Able to navigate a complex automation stack independently.
  • Strong inclination towards automation solutions.
  • Security-focused mindset.
  • Skilled in balancing stability with agility, operational tasks with software engineering, and proactive with reactive work.

Required Skills

  • Proficient in network protocols and standards (TCP/IP, BGP, VPN, DNS, Firewall, Load-Balancer).
  • Comfortable working with Linux (Red Hat / CentOS).
  • Familiar with version control systems like Git and CI/CD methodologies.
  • Experienced in automation based on Source of Truth (Netbox, Nautobot).
  • Knowledgeable in Terraform for infrastructure as code.
  • Proficient in scripting languages (bash, python, ruby, ansible, CI/CD).
  • Experienced with hybrid infrastructure (On-premises and cloud).
  • Familiar with cloud solutions and technologies (AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform).
  • Knowledge of security standards (PCI-DSS, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Network Reliability Engineer or in a similar operational role combining Network and automation.
  • Certifications in cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, PagerDuty, New Relic).
  • Understanding of compliance and security best practices in cloud environments.
