Missions
Le Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique recherche un(e) post-doctorant(e) pour travailler sur la dynamique des ondes internes dans l'atmosphère. Ces ondes ont des échelles situées dans la zone 'grise' des modèles de climat et de prévision du temps. Une problématique centrale est de déterminer dans quelle mesure elles sont bien simulées par les modèles dans quelle mesure elles doivent être paramétrées.
La/le candidat(e) mettra à jour les paramétrisations d'ondes de gravité utilisés dans LMDz, la composante atmosphérique du modèle de climat de l'IPSL (IPSLCM6) et testera leur impact sur la simulation de l'oscillation quasi-biennale (OQB) dans les tropiques les réchauffements stratosphériques soudains et la date du réchauffement stratosphérique final au printemps dans l'hémisphère austral. Le réalisme de ces grands modes de variabilité dans les modèles dépend souvent de l'équilibre entre les différents types de paramétrisations des ondes de gravité, en particulier et dans le modèle de l'IPSL les paramétrisations des ondes du aux montagnes, à la convection ou aux fronts (Lott and Miller 1997, Lott and Guez 2013, de la Camara and Lott Au cours de ce travail, il s'agira d'adapter les paramêtres de ce paramétrisations en tenant compte des leçons tirées études analyses faites à l'aide des données Vorcore ou Stratéole (Lott et al. 2023, 2024), ou des simulations globales et à très haute résolution produites dans le cadre du projet DYAMOND. Dans ce contexte la/le candidat(e) interagira activement avec les membre du consortium intenational mis en place dans le cadre de VESRI-datawave (USA, UK, Germany, France).
Activités
- Prise en main des diagnostiques de la simulation de la stratosphère dans un modèle de climat (QBO, réchauffement stratosphériques soudains et réchauffement final, extraction des ondes résolues, budgets TEM)
- Lancer des simulations climatiques avec le modèle de climat LMDz
- Eventuellement : Emuler et callibrer les paramétrisations d'ondes de gravité en utilisant des techniques d'assimilation de données ou d'intelligence artificielle par exemple en utilisant des simulations guidées du modèle LMDz.
Compétences
Doctorat en Météorologie, océanographie, dans des disciplines connexes (dynamique des fluides, physique, climatologie), ou dans l'assimilation des données.
Contexte de Travail
Le LMD est une unité mixte de recherche du CNRS, il est à la pointe de la recherche sur les processus dynamiques et physiques permettant l'étude de l'évolution et la prévision des phénomènes météorologiques et climatiques. En son sein, l'équipe DPAO se penche plus sur les aspects fondamentaux. Le projet s'inscrit dans un consortium international (USA, UK, Allemagne), dont l'objectif est de faire bénéficier aux paramétrisations d'ondes de gravité les techniques d'intelligence artificielle. Le post-doctorat se déroulera à l'Ecole Normale Supérieure.
