Senior Network Engineer Position

The City of St. Cloud is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the city's network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)
- Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
- Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability
- Monitor and maintain daily backups
- Diagnose and troubleshoot network problems and outages
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations
- Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
- Provide support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
- Develop and maintain installation, operations, and configuration procedures
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the city's security team
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
- Provide technical support after normal work hours when necessary
- Mentor and train junior network engineering staff
- Consistently provide excellent customer service
- Ability to write reports and procedure manuals
- Project lead for the planning and implementation of all Network IT Projects
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in network administration and engineering
- Professional certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
- Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers
- Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols
- Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems
- Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advanced certifications in network security
- Experience working in a government or public sector environment
- Familiarity with cloud networking solutions and services
- Familiarity with Cisco DNA and ISE
