Position Overview

ENGIE RENEWABLE GASES EUROPE (RGE) is a key division of ENGIE dedicated to the advancement of renewable and low-carbon gas production across Europe. Since its inception in 2015, ENGIE has been actively engaged in biomethane production, currently operating 26 facilities with a total output capacity of 550 GWh/y at full capacity, alongside a promising development pipeline of 1.4 TWh/y.

ENGIE aims to establish itself as a frontrunner in 1G biomethane production in Europe, targeting an ambitious growth to achieve 10 TWh/y of production capacity by 2030.

Biomethane production initiatives are underway in various European nations, including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Poland, and Italy, with Spain, Portugal, and Romania also identified as key areas for future projects. The strategy encompasses both greenfield developments and mergers & acquisitions to facilitate biomethane injection into the gas grid or the production of bioLNG.

Organizational Role

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the Process Discipline Manager will functionally liaise with the Engineering Director.

Key Responsibilities

The Process Discipline Manager will oversee the following tasks:

1. **Team Leadership**
  • Recruit and onboard process engineers in collaboration with the HR team.
  • Manage the process engineering team across various offices, focusing on mechanical, biological, and gas processes relevant to RGE operations.
  • Facilitate the professional development of team members through training and career progression initiatives.
2. **Engineering Deliverables**
  • Oversee the workload of the process team, ensuring appropriate allocation of engineers to project teams at all project phases (development, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning).
  • Conduct Preliminary, Basic, and Detailed Process Design, including equipment specifications, heat and material balances, PFDs, P&IDs, and preparation of operational manuals.
  • Review and validate designs from contractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
  • Support project teams during construction and commissioning phases, addressing site queries and managing interfaces.
  • Ensure plant performance aligns with the business plan metrics.
3. **Project Industrialization**
  • Incorporate industrialization principles into project designs, developing standard P&IDs and Hazop studies.
  • Implement methods and tools, including digital solutions, to uphold the quality of process engineering while adhering to project budgets and timelines.
  • Prioritize Health & Safety considerations in all process designs.
  • Promote continuous improvement by capitalizing on lessons learned and enhancing process engineering standards.
Location

The position is based in La Defense, with potential travel to various engineering offices and project sites across Europe.

The Process Discipline Manager will collaborate with:

  • Project Management, Industrialization, Business Development, Operations, and Procurement teams across Europe

  • Other Group Engineering teams and Corporate Knowledge Management Team
Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

- **Educational Background**: M.S. degree in chemical engineering or a related field.
- **Experience**: Minimum of 15 years in process engineering roles within the energy, water, waste treatment, or process industries, preferably in an EPC contractor environment, with at least 5 years in team leadership.
- **Language Proficiency**: Fluent in English; proficiency in French and other languages is advantageous.
- **Skills**: Strong leadership abilities, multicultural team management experience, excellent interpersonal skills, familiarity with engineering entities and matrix organizations, adeptness in change management, and the capacity to thrive in complex and dynamic settings.
