Project Overview
The goal of this project is to investigate how myotubes, a type of polynuclear cell found in skeletal muscle tissue, maintain their cellular functions when their nuclei are damaged due to irradiation. This project aims to understand the complex mechanisms of DNA repair and how they impact the genomic integrity of these cells.
Research Objectives
- Investigate the impact of inter and intra-cellular communications on DNA repair kinetics in myotubes and myoblasts.
- Develop an in vitro myogenic differentiation model to generate myotubes with ectopic expression of DNA repair proteins.
- Use microscopy techniques to induce local DNA lesions within myonuclei and evaluate the treatment with DNA repair and cellular communication inhibitors.
Required Skills
To succeed in this project, the selected candidate will need to have a strong background in cellular and molecular biology, as well as experience with microscopy techniques. The candidate will also need to be highly motivated and able to work independently.
Relevant Experience
This internship will provide the selected candidate with the opportunity to improve their technical skills in cell biology and molecular biology, as well as learn about immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy techniques. The candidate will also acquire solid knowledge in radiobiology and DNA repair.
