About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Reinsurance Strategist and Analytics Lead to join our team at AXA Group. As a key member of our Ceded Reinsurance team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing our reinsurance strategy, working closely with stakeholders across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reinsurance Strategy Development
    • Work with AXA XL stakeholders and AXA Global Re to define the placement strategy and ensure effective execution of the treaty program
    • Contribute to the development of ceded guidelines for the placement of facultative reinsurance
  • Reinsurance Structure Design
    • Lead the process to design the Ceded Re treaty program for AXA XL, working with the Business, Risk Management, and Finance teams to optimize the program and meet business needs and risk limits
    • Lead and coordinate decision-making processes on reinsurance structure, representing the Ceded Re function in Business Unit Reinsurance Committees and Boards of Legal Entities
  • Analytics and Reporting
    • Perform scenario modeling and actuarial studies on the existing AXA XL reinsurance structure to assess its relevance with the new reinsurance strategy
    • Conduct ongoing performance analysis of the current reinsurance structure and report outcomes
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Guarantee adequate collaboration with AXA XL underwriters, actuaries, operations, claims, and finance team members for data gathering, processing, pricing, and risk analysis
    • Liaise and collaborate with other Ceded Re teams and AXA XL/AXA Group stakeholders
Requirements
  • Experience
    • Advanced university degree in Insurance, Actuarial, Finance, Legal, Mathematics, Economics, Sciences, or Engineering
    • Proven reinsurance knowledge and experience: at least 7 years of experience in insurance or reinsurance
    • Proven experience in evaluating, structuring, and pricing portfolio finance/stop-loss facilities
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Very good understanding of insurance and reinsurance techniques, products, and markets, Actuarial/Risk Assessment/Financial Techniques
    • Strong knowledge/expertise in a subject risk
    • Able to demonstrate strong data and analytical skills and the ability to manage large submission data sets, with an above-average level of quantitative skills using complex data and information
    • Experience with one or more relevant data analysis tools, SQL Server, Matlab, R, etc.
    • Expertise with different insurance models and RMS and AIR vendor models for Property CAT, ideally including multi-model calibration and implementation in a traditional reinsurer and/or ILS fund context
    • Some progress towards the completion of an actuarial or CFA qualification
    • Advanced proficiency in MS Office: Access, Word, Excel, and Power Point
