Research Scientist in Surface Characterization

ArcelorMittal, the world's largest steel producer, is seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer to join its Digital Technologies cluster in the Process lab. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new solutions for product characterization, primarily focusing on steel product surfaces with coating, and integrating them into industrial facilities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in spectroscopy, surface characterization, and infrared techniques, with experience in programming languages such as Python. They will work closely with the research team to explore innovative solutions combining surface characterization and temperature measurement with embedded and desktop software components.
Key Responsibilities- Develop new solutions for product characterization, focusing on steel product surfaces with coating
- Integrate solutions into industrial facilities
- Collaborate with the research team to explore innovative solutions
- Work with academic laboratories and hardware suppliers to enhance competencies in spectral and hyperspectral solution integration
- Engineer degree, Master degree or PhD in relevant discipline
- Experience in spectroscopy, spectral analysis, data acquisition and processing
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python
- Innovative, curious and results-oriented
- Ability to run laboratory experiments and trials in industrial plant context
- Excellent social skills to work in project teams within a multi-cultural environment
- Ability to travel worldwide
- Fluent in English, French would be a plus
