Role Overview
Your Environment:
The O.I.E. Center is a collaborative research team at MINES Paris - ARMINES, dedicated to the fields of energy, environment, and Earth observation.
The Center's initiatives are focused on three primary areas:
• Advancing energy-specific meteorology for the assessment and forecasting of renewable resources, particularly solar energy;
• Evaluating and supporting decision-making processes to mitigate the environmental, social, and economic impacts of transportation, energy production, and consumption;
• Sharing scientific data through web services in a collaborative international framework.
The research conducted at the O.I.E. Center is integral to the evaluation, modeling, and utilization of renewable energy resources across time.
Your Challenges and Responsibilities:
• Perform a comprehensive literature review on physically informed supervised methodologies for predicting solar radiation from satellite imagery.
• Innovate new strategies to enhance supervised algorithms for short-term predictions utilizing satellite data.
• Identify and articulate physical constraints relevant to satellite imagery mathematically.
• Manage extensive datasets (satellite images and meteorological model outputs) for practical application.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues in a highly interdisciplinary and multicultural setting.

You possess:
A Ph.D. with a strong interest in data science, solar resource evaluation, and its application in renewable energy.
- Demonstrated expertise in applying data science to solar energy or related disciplines (atmospheric sciences, meteorology, remote sensing);
- Proficiency in modeling, data analysis, and programming in Python, C, C++ on both Linux and Windows platforms;
- Strong foundation in data science methodologies;
- Prior knowledge in solar resources, atmospheric science, or meteorology;
- Excellent command of spoken and written English is essential.
